    I agree with the older guy. Its time we ourselves stop labeling us as black this & black that. It severely limits our creativity and opportunities. You can still be a proud Black creator celebrate your culture but still be an artist.

      Though I see the sense in what you're saying, this could easily translate into the erasure of your culture - if you don't practise it, its not celebrated, passed on...nobody knows or cares and it becomes forgotten. Then before you know it your culture is white, because, don't be fooled, there is a predominant culture in place....its not a blank space.

    I agree with the older guy, it's similar with what happens today with many races. Being labeled as white, black, muslim, asian. Like on my high school basketball team I heard, oh, you're white, so you play white. You can't play this way cause you are white. People need to be seen as more than color.

      I don't understand the point you're making. Can you clarify?

    • @HenryLaBelle
      @HenryLaBelle 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@klouddsurferful hah, not really that's from four years ago. my thoughts have grown since then. that comment is just basic knowledge, I suppose I meant that if all of the races of the world want to live together, they need to stop making it difficult by forcing their own or other races to act a certain way based on "culture" or "tradition". Culture and tradition are great things, but they are also often an excuse for less than adequate behavior.

    • @HenryLaBelle
      @HenryLaBelle 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@klouddsurferful and looking back on this video I would say that we have no time to think about racism in Hollywood, because pedophilia doesn't have any one skin color.

    i think that the issue as a whole is misguided... we all know who owns Hollywood and it isn't minorities. Minorities need entrepreneurship in the movie industry in order to satisfy the status quo. Otherwise, dealing with Hollywood seems more like a charity cause to me. Not to mention that there is a broad spectrum of industries that lack diversity as it is. We just glorify the celebrity and that why this is a more discussed topic.

      +Isaac Padilla because black people are Americans. Every other ethnicity has a country other than the U.S, we don't

      +mjohnson510 Asian Americans, Mexican Americans, (Latino-Americans), NATIVE AMERICANS..............thank you.

    • @mjohnson510
      @mjohnson510 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Isaac Padilla Well, as I said, if you were to look at the films in there country they're playing different roles and have full control. Black Americans are literally restrictive because its a media control agenda to present who's in power and who's more aesthetically pleasing in the hierarchy spectrum. Unfortunately, allowing Black Americans more of the spot light in the melting pot of a country would make others (asians, mexicans, arabs, foreigners; etc) perceive black and white as equal and that's simply what they don't want to do. Thus, this is why this topic keeps concurring as a major discussion (always).

    • @mjohnson510
      @mjohnson510 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Isaac Padilla That is also why the discussion are always Black and White -- because it's general a Black and White country full of problems. Everyone other ethnicity can go elsewhere and migrate and get a citizenship, we can't, unless we both have descendants from other countries. That's why White-American and Black-Americans issues are always a talk. Everyone else is in the middle.

      Chip Pee i believe blacks consider mexicans just like them. They use terms like "people of color" to mean blacks, mexican, etc. So when they win a battle the rewerds extend to you.
      Think of it this way, if they can accept black people, the door is already open for latinos.

    • @KP-gq2lw
      @KP-gq2lw 8 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      +Kuma El Negro Ok I can fuck with that . And just like you said since our people are not doing it YET. We will support the blacks because it gives us hope . Although our parents are hard workers and couldn't educate themselves . That definitely will not be the case anymore , the new generation of Mexicans and Hispanics will be making a lot of noise in this country.

    A huge issue! Very wide too. Even in our esthetics, the American is emphasized more than the African. Think about it. In the telecasting news none of them reminds me of a Haitian Black, Ethiopian/Somali. Our culture is geared towards a certain, commercial look for it's Black people. Listen to radio (r&b) and reggae, ska, hi-life are seldom, if ever heard, yet discussion of the 'diaspora' remain. Caucasians on the screen have Canadians as Canadians, UK, Irish, W. European, Australian...but not many Jamaicans as Jamaicans, Togo, Nigerian (I certainly see and hear them, but in the flesh more than the medias). Maybe African-American is a sort of fortress. But the discussion is still good with a few in territory with not many Black people in places of influence. Now does more than three need to look like a gathering of the United Nations?! Not all the time. Just some of the time and give a rest, now and then. I got to parties some parties where everyone is Black. I'm not thinking, "O I wish we had some Latinos, Jews, or Caucasians here..."

    Just curious, you know how the guy was talking about how stereotypical black roles? Aka they always cast a black person as a thug, criminal, etc. Let's say if the role was actually ethnically stated, it is a black person who is a thug, how would that role pass as not racist?
    Also, do you think black actors get the least opportunity out of Natives, Hispanics, Asians, and other minorities?

    If black people have a problem... why don't they just make their own films? Games, books, comics, etc. There are plenty of successful "actors who are black;" why not start making your own films that discuss topics you feel appropriate. or make movies about stuff that you think the most people will watch or will make the most money.Why not have black actors, producers, directors, stunt people, doubles, extras in films funded by black people and marketed to black people. Or why not have these same people be the lead in the creating of a movie, and then hire white people to fill the "typical white person role - where they have no backstory, where you know nothing about their education, family life, etc."or just get a bunch of wealthy black people to help fund a movie where all the main movie production roles are filled by black people and then fill out the rest with white people.I would also like to point out that in movies made by black people, you don't find that many white people in lead roles, or get their back stories as a sidekick character. Damn those double standards!People are always trying to get in on other people's success. why not make your own?How about you encourage black people to get the education required to to become game developers and designers instead of going into existing games and saying, "there aren't enough black people in here!"Question: Why aren't black people main characters or represented moreso in fantasy and science fiction books and movies.Answer: Because there aren't many black authors who write about these topics and when people do write about stuff, they most often relate to what they know best (this take less time and research, thus making it able to produce more work), namely their own race, people, ideals, philosophies, etc.If an author (who is black) wrote a story in this genre, then undoubtedly they will cast the main roles by black people and deal with topics and philosophies that pertain to that culture... My 8 year-old neice (who reads at a grade 9 level) is capable of understanding this and has even pointed it out to me. She said, there aren't many black people in this story, so i asked her to look up the author, and low-and-behold, they were white. And when she read a prodominantly black story, she asked why there aren't many white people in the book, and again, i asked he to look up the author, and guess what? the author was black. i don't remember what books.

      +Everyone is Ignorant - To varying degrees Your post ignores one of the main issues that is discussed and also ignores the nature of economics/society itself. This isn't just asking why blacks aren't cast in roles outside their culture, it's confronting the issue of blacks getting mainstream exposure. The mainstream is where all the $$ is at and it's also run by who? Whites. Your "keep to yourselves" attitude doesn't solve anything; blacks who are successful aren't simply asking to be cast as different roles but to given a shot at both the opportunity and wealth that is a part of the mainstream. White individuals in the mainstream do not want to fit other people and cultures, especially black culture, into their paragon of story telling. That was just mentioned in the last video! Wealth is not just generated out of nowhere. You asking black audiences and black producers/actors/actresses to support themselves is fruitless when African American society is inevitably a subset of a white society. You are right though... why not ask the blacks in America to get a quality education so that they can become game developers, programmers, etc? Especially since they absolutely have the wealth to persuade their children to not worry about that shoddy underfunded high school, and absolutely have the wealth and education to tackle that overpriced investment of a college degree. When people have so many problems and lack the education to prioritize education, that is a sad predicament. These problems aren't just self perpetuated; there is causation somewhere down the line and simply saying "go do your own thing!" does not help. That is why blacks want to draw from white societal wealth. As soon as they do that, there are stereotypical, cultural, and racial issues that become stumbling blocks.
