I’m surprised the aftermarket hasn’t come up with a solution to this, just a solid bronze washers at the correct thickness.

The tolerances aren’t tight enough on the production models to have a one size fits all solution

@@GustavoHernandez1 that makes no sense. A bronze washer 0.125mm thicker will compensate for the lack of Teflon. I am led to believe from reliable sources that the secondary washer is to prevent the primary ones from binding, for a smoother action.

Just watch Nick Shabazz disassemble the rat 1. He found out how you have to watch out for the placement of the washers. Just take a look

I'm in Canada. I can't find a RAT 1 brick and mortar anywhere, and I can only find them for 50+ CAD at online Canadian retailers. Seven dollars... just kill me already...

They tear up on the lock bar. They are oversized and protrude in to the lock bar seating area. That's why only one side is torn up. I have the same on my RAT 1. Not the rust.

I wonder if they will fix the size?

@@KnifeThoughts I bought my Orange Model 1 about a year ago, and I had to trim the washer down so it was the exact size as the brass one on the lock bar side. I purchased 2 more some 5 weeks ago to keep aside brand new (desert tan and grey versions). I'll have a look tomorrow as it's almost 11pm here in New Zealand, And see if the newer ones have addressed the issue. Watch this space 😀

Imagine how much I would’ve used on all those screws in my old method 🤣

It’s definitely pricey, but for knife maintenance it should last your a lifetime!!

What a horrible flaw in a good knife.
