Over 15 years later. I still have not forgotten this performance. I thought it was absolutely amazing. Her range and ability to hit those notes at ease was just marvelous
This was by far the best season of American Idol and Latoya London really was the star for most of it. She had the voice, the stage presence and was musically versatile and clearly had Broadway chops too. I just think Fantasia's personal story was more compelling and tugged at the heartstrings. Don't weep for Latoya tho she's built a very strong Broadway career. The recording industry probably wasn't for her anyway
I bought LaToya's first album and don't even know if she's made another one. Latoya and Melinda Doolittle deserve much more than they've gotten. Both are super talented vocalists. This was an amazing performance. I have seen Fantasia perform live several times and she is always fantastic. She and Jennifer are also very talented.
@Dean Brandt well we know Simons critique held the most weight on the panel and his comment was crap. Paula applauds just about everyone and Randy was often inconsistent with praise.
Vocally, she was the best that season. But Fantasia was like the total package. Her voice is unique. Either you like it or hate it though. But she stood out because of that & she has tons of personality & great stage showmanship. I think that’s what won Fantasia over Latoya. Having said that, I still think they should have been the final 2.
@@AgentAO7Fantasia had a sob story. America and producers related to her more. But vocally Latoya was the best this season and she had a package. Simon didn’t like her. He thought she was arrogant.
Latoya is an incredible singer! I still am hoping she gets a big moment in a movie or something. She's just cool like that. Her gifts should be celebrated! I do agree with Randy. She could do broadway, and kill it! I'd pay to go see her in a broadway show giving that gift! Absolutely amazing!
It would be cool to see her range too. However much effort she wants to put into it, I'd still wanna see her flex her performance muscles. I remember my whole family being completely glued to the screen when she sang "All by myself" on Idol. We were ALL like OMG WOW! She's amazing!
Couldn't agree more. She was my fave and at that time, she was the best vocalist (Jennifer Hudson's vocals have since surpassed hers and pretty much everyone else's from the show), but I so badly want something major to come through for LaToya. She is a brilliant singer and she looks the exact same, hasn't aged a day.
LaToya London song this for me Live on Instagram and I didn’t think it was possible for her to sound any more amazing than she did many years ago. She’s definitely had some vocal training, not that she needed it, post idol.
She wasn't humble enough for the voters. They saw her as already polished and thinking they've won the show similar to Tamyra. No way Jasmine should have made it farther than her though!!!
sboudreaux27 sorry to ask but is there a page where you got this information? I’ve always wanted to get hold of voting statistics of past American Idol competitions like UK X factor style but to no avail.
sboudreaux27 Of course she was...she was the last white person standing against 3 Black people and a Pacific Islander. The target audience for American Idol are white 12-15 year old girls. But look at who one...and has grammy awards and hit albums....and where is Donna now? I mean Diane? Or whatever her name was?
@@sebastianm6885 I know, but she's in a different season. Which is 4 yrs after this one. Was only speaking about Diana & Latoya since they both competed this season of American Idol & how both had the ability to prolong their voice singing high notes.
To bad the show was based on popularity and not true organic talent. LaToya is talented, beautiful and came to Idol with no drama, she should have been the Idol winner for season 3.
Randy is so annoying, and they totally missed out on her. She is such a talent but she is so so good. Personality...Randy is an idiot and Simon was equally wrong...surprising that he slept on her talent.
I watched AI after it first premiered and to this day I cannot recall ‘why’ or when I stopped watching, probably bc of the politics?! I still to this day (many years later) do NOT know who chose or what musical background this Randy Jackson had prior to being a judge on AI?? Who in the Sheol is he?!
Over 15 years later. I still have not forgotten this performance. I thought it was absolutely amazing. Her range and ability to hit those notes at ease was just marvelous
I looked for it today. I never forgot this amazing performance. She is super talented.
Saaammmeeeeeeee!!!
Me either. She killed it
Same here! I'm here binge watching Latoya tonight all these years later! haha. She's amazing.
Same. I looked this up bc I always remember it’s one of the few excellent versions of this songs. I saw it on tv when it originally aired lol

This is my favorite season and Latoya is my favorite also! This was the season that really got me into the show

This was my favorite season for sure. Fantasia, Diana, Latoya, Jennifer, George, they're all amazing, but Latoya was my favorite of them all
Latoya should be more successful
Robbed
She was my favorite too!
They didn’t want her to win. After THAT performance the judges should’ve shown so much more enthusiasm. She was the best that season.
@Dean Brandt well we know Simons critique held the most weight on the panel and his comment was crap. Paula applauds just about everyone and Randy was often inconsistent with praise.
The best!!!

Can't take randy serious at times,Paula is she drunk sometimes 😅, Simon on point he's right

She should have one. She had the best voice that year in my opinion
@Jim Stark LMAO. She should have won. LMAO. Could you imagine if she became a cyclops with only one?
@Jim Stark rotflmao!
This was the best vocal of the season for me.
LaToya London song this for me Live on Instagram and I didn’t think it was possible for her to sound any more amazing than she did many years ago. She’s definitely had some vocal training, not that she needed it, post idol.
Pure confidence.
Flawless.
So good to see Latoya performing.
LaToya should have won that year.
Cannot believe she was eliminated this week. WHAT A BIG VOICE. Love her 😍

Nope. She was eliminted the week after. Not this week.
@@tbewin1z143 between her & Jasmine. Jasmine any day
Latoya, you kille it on stage ! Waouhhh best of the best renditions !!!
She owned this night!

yeeeees
and too close for comfort was just as good as this one (better in my opinion ;p)
She was eliminated that night. But I think she was the best. She was way more polished than Hudson
@@joelgarcia3907 she was eliminated the next week
WOW!! She sang this Barbra Streisand song 💖 🎶🎙🔥!! This song wowed me when I 1st heard it many decades ago! Yeah Funny Girl was the 🎬 movie. 🎶 💕
I thought she should have won. I haven't watched the show since. Pure organic talent!!!
Her & Diana Degarmo are able to hold notes in a song for a very long time.
Syesha Mercado did on Tobacco Road and I will always love you
It was a good performance but the last note went flat!!!

Season 3 has my heart
Still think about this performance from time to time. She ate.
I love this.
Still my favourite version xxx
I loved her voice!!!!!!
I remember her and Fantasia were the last two black females left....I was so happy one of them won 🤗
sboudreaux27 hahah
Wrong. It was Diana a white girl and fantasia.
Tom N. she didn’t say the last two girls. she said the last two black girls remaining
When she got eliminated everyone boo’d Jasmine Trias 🤣 mannnnnnnnn I got chills with this performance 10/10
I still watch this 2022🎉
Thank You.
And bravo for the orange dress. Barb fans know
this is cool

I was rooting for Latoya . I thought she was fantastic and much preferred her to Fantasia 😎😎😎
Wow . Wow Wow
She as robbed
Simon not lookin for Broadway is he

@Yin Tong Athena Chan he's literally not! That's a different randy jackson

My goodness!!! The way she kicked this song off!! She was just missing a more exciting stage presence. Going against Fantasia was tough!
IMO, I think that Jennifer should have been the winner winner chicken dinner for this season!!!
The day Latoya was voted off the show. It became a joke to me. I haven't watched a season since.
golden seasons of AI. after that went downhill
Well that's exactly what this girl did wasn't it, went straight to Broadway.
Pretty good singer only problem with her she is old fashioned & too classical.
