      This is the very danger of echo chambers. When you surround yourself with people who agree with you all of your ideas seem great and clever. That's why James tries not to get mad and explains that "this is your idea when it's held up to scrutiny" and 99% of them just end up getting hung up on or faded out even after they've been left speechless and try to come up with a new clever thought on the fly.

    The reformed drug user is somewhat typical. Once they've kicked the habit, they sometimes become advocates of much stricter punishment for drug use.
    After 12 years in the klink , he still blames society, and the drugs, but won't accept any responsibility himself.
    I've done loads of drugs in my life, but I've never committed armed robbery. Or any crime to finance my drug use from.
    And I don't blame society for not preventing me from getting them, or for my addiction to them. Nor do I want younger people to be punished more severely than I was, when I got caught.
    This guy is still blaming the drugs for the crimes he committed, and society for not stopping him from taking them. Anybody but himself.

    In Thailand we've been wearing facemasks since March 2020, even during a brief period when they were advisory.
    Schools reopened after a few months of attempts to make them Covid-safe.
    The rules are simple. Out in public? Wear a mask whether indoors or outdoors.
    Medical exemption? Stay at home.
    No confusion. If you stop somewhere to eat/drink, the seating is well spaced out and masks can be removed.
    A land where people accept responsibility rather than demand their freedom to risk the health of others.

      They may be 'stupid' because they've already been listening to and reading 'info' from opportunists who know how to target rubes/marks. The problem we have as humans is that our brains/nervous systems work on mechanisms that reward conditioning and no distinction is made as to whether that conditioning is good or bad for us. Dopamine and our bodies rewards systems just build on what is already in place and that happens in childhood/young adulthood, when we are still developing our abilities to learn and reason. We are biological machines. Only our self-awareness can hope to influence that conditioning for the better. Otherwise we are just going to keep operating on our conditioning and real life will decide if it was good enough for survival and development.

      Fair enough, but if you like listening to James already, you're probably good. These incredible callers, and the deeply-alarming number and degree of embarrassments in Parliament (hugely Tory), didn't get where they are (in terms of being just obvious nutbags) by accident. They put in a lot of work to be this determined to refuse to see truths this obvious. They want to believe this insane stuff, and they simply don't care if it's true. That's the problem. There's no misfortune here, but only sustained intent. They could literally stop at any moment. They just refuse to stop putting in the huge amount of extra effort needed to sustain this level of dishonesty.
      In other words, you seem to be acting in good-faith, so I think you'd be fine, as it's actually a lot of deliberate work to be a liar. I do think, with respect, that you may be vastly under-estimating the depth of the problem we face. These people are zealots, really and truly. And zealots are extremely dangerous.

      The thing is - not always. Sometimes it devolves into picking on a certain word and pretending not to understand the overall meaning. Which is annoying to listen to.
      He still has a way to go in that regard. For example I don't agree with everything Jordan Peterson thinks, but watch his interview with the UK woman host - now that's a showcase on how to argue. He doesn't pick on certain words like James does when he doesn't have a proper argument, but he calmly dismantles the WHOLE argument.

      @GetGwapThisYear 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@emptyblank099a In sport, although complicated, I agree, as men and women do develop distinctly differently, especially if a person goes through puberty as a man and transitions later in life. They will have structural advantages over biologically female competitors as a matter of fact. Kids transitioning is a bit more nuanced, in my opinion, as the line between child and adult is a manmade construct tbh (although a moral and ethical one, for obvious reasons), but kids can know their sexuality from as young as 7, if not younger; so their grasp of their identity is not necessarily less than that of an adult. They need guidance and understanding, but I think there needs to be objective oversight from trans and non-trans professionals, simultaneously. Making them wait til adulthood can also have profound negative impact on individuals, psychologically and physically, as puberty is obviously when the most significant changes occur. I'm no expert, but I'd never rush to dismiss someone because of their age.
