The british monarchy is especially guilty of this greed. They are one of the wealthiest family in the world, but continue to be supported by the people. Why? What value does the british monarchy add to the lives of the uk citizen that entitles them to continue to be financially supported by the people? They do nothing for commonwealth countries, but use those countries as their bank. And why do people put up with it? I hope uk monarchy does not survive. Its a proven leach.

Nhs IT infrastructure is as well funded as the nhs is. when it should have been upgraded it wasn't and then again when the next ' no really, do it' it wasn't really done either it's been run into the ground to allow privatisation ' to save' the nhs. What needs to happen? Nhs needs to be put back to 2010 and then built on, we need better ... everything any reliance on private health must be time limited very very strictly as in 5 years maximum and the work should be aimed to be completed within 3 years with basically low loses ( 10 -25% of remaining contract) in ending the contract early.
Profit is, was, and always will be the core problem facing all essential services. It has no place in hospitals, healthcare,housing, energy, transport, food delivery, water management or military sectors. Until we can look past the end of our own nose and confront this fundamental systemic contradiction every aspect of our short lives will continue to decline until we are at the same standard of living as the global south we outsource the catastrophically diabolical consequences of capitalism to currently.
Paradoxically progressive Canada may be the last bastion of unyielding monarchism within the Commonwealth. Both the Liberals and Tories are staunchly pro-monarchy. And, whilst nominally open to persuasion, even the leftist New Democrats are loathed to actually discuss the issue. Perhaps having a front row seat to the Republican chaos south of their border has played a role in this reticence.

I think we take the monarchy for granted. They add to our national identity, even in the back of our minds. They're a constant. Everything else comes and goes. I suppose we can keep dismantling the country bit by bit but I'm not sure what will replace this key figurehead? Our financial services? The government? Fun!
