- Just getting caught up today, have a lot of material printed that needs to be finished. Bound about 600 soft cover books. I was averaging about 250-300 books per hour. The Bourg 3002 perfect binder is a monster. Made quick work of that huge stack of book blocks. Printed a newsletter on the Konica Minolta C3070. Very productive day. Lots of work to do tomorrow too.
I find all of this fascinating and would love to do this as a job. Thank you for sharing do and how you do it.
Also just learnt a load about packaging items. Double boxing and how to cut down a box so you don’t need bubble wrap. Genius.

No you don't there's no money in this line of work whether you're addressing tabbing printing saddle stitching all part of a printing facility there is absolutely no good income except for higher ranking employees or the owners you'll end up with a very unsatisfying job at the end of the day as far as not very rewarding it's fun to watch but to have as a career 98% of these places do not pay their employees well whatsoever I've been in this line of work for 20 years it took me 20 years to finally find something that is somewhat decent

Pro tip: Run the handle of your knife along the four sides of the box (inside) after you've put your books in and the flaps will fold perfectly straight.

There is a local sharpening shop that will sharpen it.
Maybe you can show how do you change you guilotines knive properly? I get very wet then that time is coming for me :Dd

we eliminated using slip sheets for book blocks by printing a black bar on the side :)
Yes, I have heard of others doing that. I might need to consider that if I cannot buy slip sheets in the future.
