I agree that there are so many pros and very few cons but the cons, although few, are dealbreakers. Cons are: 1) fingerprint sensor longevity - mine sensor stopped working in just under a year 2) Post sales service. Although my issue happened in the warranty period and Ultraloq initially agreed to replace the sensor, they dragged the issue out and when I followed up with them it went beyond the warranty period so they denied my warranty. Their remedy was to give me a discount (which incidentally was no less than what they offer on regular sales) for me to buy a new one. No thanks, not interested in buying these on an annual basis.
Good review and I agree that it is made solid. Good you caught the fingerprint angle. I initially did mine sitting down and most of the time I had to try a couple of time to get it to open. I found that using the fingerprint with short presses helped a lot. I should reset the fingerprint in the normal position. Documentation is pretty good and I suggest reading the manual before installation.' Batteries do last about a year and you get a red flashing/beep when they need replacing. Thank you for the review.
Can't find in documentation. How long is the deadbolt latch projection? My door jam is quiet narrow and current deadbolt latch looks quite a bit shorter than shown in your video.
Mine’s lasted about one and a half months so far but the low battery alert has been on for the last week or two… was definitely hoping it would last a lot longer!
Just 1 little suggestion, for the viewers in the rest of the world, add mm in with your measurements. America are the only country to still use imperial units so it would make sense to use a unit that the rest of the world uses :)
It's not that the fingerprint reader is worse than on a cell phone, all readers are angle dependent. If you didn't scan your fingerprint on your iPhone with the top of your finger it isn't going to accept it either. It is *definitely* a good note to everyone to do the scans as you would use the reader or properly scan the tip and pad.
I just recently got this, it's great. But, I've never set my fingerprint and it seems to open with any fingerprint. I was even able to unlock it with my elbow and wrist. So, does this mean that anyone can now unlock the ultraloq? Plus I can't find the reset needle before anyone suggests I reset it.
I'm wondering if the Geofence is on and it's unlocking because of proximity to the phone so it seems like random sensor presses are allowing people in?
Micro USB for backup power when USB-C is the standard for years... that turned me off buying it until they get up to normal standards with some newer version, not many people carry around a spare micro-usb cable anymore when nothing new uses it anymore, guess theyre just getting rid of crappy old stock piles of micro-usb plugs in China.
I think it's super useful. Assuming worst case and you don't have a power bank or spare key stashed, walk over to a neighbors and borrow one. If they don't have one, I'm sure they'll have a USB charger and cord you could borrow...assuming your porch has an outlet close by. It's like a condom, better to have it and not need it that need it and not have it. In the end, it's just another option to get you out of a jam.

Interesting. I'm six'ish months in and no problems. Hoping one doesn't crop up.
My fingerprint sensor went out a month in. I had to do two factory resets but it did get fixed.
That's bad customer service , reason enough not to buy !
😅 I forgot

I have the same problem now. Finger print does not work, even the keypad a has problem I have to press the button couple of times to get it activated.

Thank you for the review.
I installed mine all correctly and the bolt is very sticky and hard to turn I don’t know what I’m doing wrong
I seem to have blinked and missed the flaw :-)
Incorrectly labeled deadbolt sizing and a non-polished app...super minor stuff when considering the product as a whole is awesome.

Excellent review! Thanks.
How is the wifi? I saw complaints, and the issue seems to be that it only connects to 2.4GHZ band.
I've never had a problem with the wifi. It's pretty common that iot devices only connect to the 2.4 ghz band though.
@@aaronstestlab Thanks for the quick reply!
this is probably a stupid question, but is the handle below the lock just a handle or do u have a lock option on that too?
Just a handle in my case. Though you can buy handles with locks as well.
How's the battery life now that you've had it a while?
Mine’s lasted about one and a half months so far but the low battery alert has been on for the last week or two… was definitely hoping it would last a lot longer!
I'm still on my first set of batteries
@@vivienaurea1898 that's with this model? With the separate plug in wifi?
@@mjomond sorry no, with the built in wifi!
Just got one and it keeps saying: Registration error, please follow this article to fix.
I’ve followed the instructions and it still won’t work.
Hopefully that usb power is “power only” and not dual “power/data”. Otherwise seems like a great product
what does that mean and do?
@@yordanpopov power input = can only take in power. Power/data = power input plus data transfer which could be easily decoded/hacked.

wow! That’s a great tip. Thanks!

You need to remember to have a micro USB now if you forget to your key.
We love you sooooo much!!
Awesome review.
Thank you! Cheers!
What happens if the internet connection fails and you don't have the key?
Use your fingerprint or your code...doesn't need an internet connection for that.
@@aaronstestlab thanks for the quick response! I just ordered this on Amazon.
can u review smonet smart lock, we want to see, lol.
After 1 year of use, the bolt is not as responsive to the pinpad.

that does not seem normal.

It does not come with a screwdriver
I don't remember
You got a voice made for voice over. Hope you take it somewhere 👍🏻

USB-C would be nicer, but I'd take micro-USB over nothing.
Who carries a power bank and micro USB cord in their pocket? 🙄🙄 Certainly no iPhone users. That’s not a helpful feature at all.
