I have experienced lip swelling since day 1. if I have a heavy day of practice, which is almost every day recently I get swollen upper lip after only 5 minutes. Is this normal, or should I pack it in? i'm not using too much pressure. im not allergic, etc. but the next day when i play in the high range some days my lips struggle just to get a buzz. thoughts?? note. Im a classical player. not a jazz guy.
Do you usually practice in the morning? The reason I’m asking is my lips are always stiff and swollen in the morning but if I start my practice session after say noon, it’s a lot easier. Also, are you resting as much as you play? I particularly avoid playing for long periods of time when I first put the horn to my face in the morning. Also, if I find my morning session to be really stiff and non-productive. I will pack it in and try to again in three or four hours. I usually have a “honeymoon” period around 5 PM so it changes throughout the day. Lastly, try practicing for four or five days without ever having the feeling like you are completely chopped and exhausted. Leave a little in the tank as it were. Let me know how it goes.
@@JeffLewisTrumpet if I play in the morning yes, they aren't as responsive as after im up for a while. Awesome Ill try that! it's true I play till "failure" too often . 🙏🙏
