I love my Victron Smart Charge Controller. And I got the same one, but ordered the display

Glad to hear it! Is the display worth it? What do you like about it?

If only I was clever enough to do that on purpose.

Lol, guess i should have looked thru more of your videos, i was looking to find out if there was a non app programmable unit and what the difference is between blue and smart solar units. You seem to have it all covered. 😁

range on smart solar is low but you probly will need the smart shunt and can add the battery sensor on there if you wanted which has 8M range.
temp sensor on battery also for charging so keep them from getting too hot on hard pulls down or charging.
Might be best to do two charge controllers on the solar that large and that many panels. redundancy?

Yeah, we'll see which components I need over time, but those are great suggestions.

How much solar in what configuration and which inverter are you using?

Good question - I am 100% going to be making videos on this, but I have 3 kw setup with ten panels and five strings. I'll be running a 6kw genetry inverter (not an affiliate link: www.genetrysolar.com/ )

@@TheWilltoBuild sounds like we're planning pretty much the same size 48v setup with the EVE cells. I was thinking 3200 watts of PV and about 5kw inverter charger. Why are you choosing that brand of inverter charger?

@@allmomomosthomebus3895 Good question. My setup is actually for a workshop - so I need to be able to handle large inductive loads and potentially run 220v. When I was looking on the market it either seemed I could get what I wanted from an inexpensive low quality brand, or pay out the wazoo for a more reliable brand with U.S. support. Genetry just seemed like a very cool intermediate option. The price is really good, and it is run by two guys (Sean and Sid) who are very responsive and absolutely determined to make a killer product. They are basically taking affordable Chinese tech and modifying it so that the inverters are super reliable and user friendly, which I think is the best of both worlds. I am literally buying an inverter from their first batch ever, so it is definitely a risk, but given the price (1k usd) I figure I could take the risk, especially given the warranty and stateside support. What inverter are you going for?

@@TheWilltoBuild I want 5000 to 6000 watts of AC. I ruled out split phase and opted for 110 bonding both sides of my panel but it would be cool to be able to weld stuff with 220 beside the bus when we eventually set up a home stead somewhere. I was planning to buy Victron stuff but it's quite expensive. If these fellows are passionate and it's user serviceable then this might be worth it. They're calling them inverters but looking at the features it seems they're also chargers with generator or AC line input? Or am I not understanding? I guess I should give them a call.

@@allmomomosthomebus3895 I think they could be a good fit. They are inverters, but they will have an AC input I believe, so they can charge your batteries with grid or generator power in addition to being inverters.
