I am an online grad student and I am having a hard time understanding a lot of my textbook content. I am so glad I found your channel. You made this completely clear. Great teacher!
thank you for all your videos, in each of the topics I saw, you were always the best reference in terms of explaining and depth of information and making it easy to comprehend
This is verrrrrrry helpful. I would like to learn more about how to adjust operating lease in the balance sheet, income statement and cash flow. Especially on the relationship between interest expense change, depreciation expense and lease repayment by function
Guys be careful. In 2021 operation leases are no longer (off balance sheet) you have to report both type of leases regardless for the type in the balance sheet as an asset and a liability. The rules have changed.
Just what I was wondering! Are they both recoded the same as the video demonstrated? Assets and debits both increase by the present value of the lease payment...
I get that IFRS is almost always capital/finance lease w/ the exception of short-term leases or small dollar value which are then classified as operating, but what about if it's classified under ASPE?
Does this concept still apply under the new accounting standards or is the operating lease recoded on the balance sheet just like the capital lease now?
hi, thank you for this wonderful tutorial, but haven't the rules changed in 2019? the lease amount has to appear in the balance sheet right? can you please let me know how they are treated in the statements in the present rules. thank you
capital budgeting is a VIP chapter in my course on my site and paid to access......if you end up wanting to purchase it, please contact me. My contact details are on the site
I know this video is from 2017 but for anyone seeing this in 2022, the "off-balance" aspect for operating leases has changed. Refer to this investopedia article for more details: www.investopedia.com/terms/c/capitallease.asp . Otherwise, this video is great!

IFRS 16 was introduced in 2019 and now you have to recognise a "right-of-use asset" and a lease liability.
