    One should consider how difficult it would be to sell. Renting gives you flexibility, especially if one is old.

    • @brianbrown9512
      @brianbrown9512 2 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Absolutely! You must ask yourself why are these properties so cheap? Is it that they're difficult to sell? So why? Oversupply and a market purely for foreigners.
      In my home town in UK property is selling within DAYS and with double digit growth appreciation. In the past 25-30 years I have owned in Spain, Turkey and now Thailand. It takes years to sell a property, with barely any gains and often losses!!!

    • @brianbrown9512
      @brianbrown9512 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @Bryan Hi, Firstly do you know or understand the property laws and restrictions on Foreign ownership here? Land and houses can not be owned by non Thais, unless through a series of not entirely legal loopholes i.e Limited Company. Best means is a usafruct.
      I have bought and sold several properties here in Thailand over the last 15-16 years. Last one several year ago. In brief unless you buy at a very heavily discounted price you ll not make any money even over a long period. Very probably lose money.
      Four main points to be aware of:-
      * Huge oversupply
      * Poor build quality
      * Fractious legal system unfavorable to Foreigners.
      * Plentiful supply great value rentals.
      Condos are very very hard to sell in many of the more popular tourist areas, literally 100s of thousands on the market, many brand new empty. Plus lots and lots of scams, Ponzi schemes. Most recent New Nordic Group.
      Political instability, huge wealth disparity and a very unhappy and resentful lower class. A ticking bomb.

    • @brianbrown9512
      @brianbrown9512 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @Bryan You're welcome Bryan. My advice would be to rent here and use the rental income from your own property wherever you live currently. Try that for 2-3 years until you get a better idea. Cheers and good luck

      Bob O'Neill - I was just explaining that to a friend who is always looking to buy....they hate the idea of renting and think it's just for suckers. I plan on selling my properties and becoming an expat. My friend starts talking about places I should consider buying.....I tell him "Look, I will be retired, I can use the funds of my smaller home as the bankroll to rent to rest of my life....AND by renting I can live somewhere for 6 months, a year, two years....but then when I feel like moving on to live somewhere else I don't have the hassle to selling."
      Basically, I want my retirement years to be somewhat nomadic....If a like a place I will stay longer, if not move on. Can't do that if your buying and selling homes around the world.

    It’s about being accepted and feeling secure you cannot legally own a property in full in some countries on here and won’t have the same rights as the people of these countries examples like Cambodia great country to live in but you’ll only have a 49% ownership of any property of course there are ways around it but it’s risky of you have a child who’s born there you can buy and have the guardian over the other 51% that would belong to them but if you split from the child’s mother then you things become difficult.

    I am a real estate agent on the coast line of Bulgaria. I think the best place to buy is here. You can have a great revenue from an apartment, and you can buy one for way under 100k. Plus, winter here is way more warmer then the countryside, as the Black sea is not as windy as the ocean. Most days is just sunny with temperatures above +10 celsius. Selling back your property it will be very easy, once you decide that you don't need it.

      Lol, well, I just found the fool who only buys things at the top of the market…. Did you buy Moderna stocks in August of 2021 when they were at $497.00 a share because you heard certain politicians who had bought below $30 a share in March 2020 had made a bunch of money? NOW is the right time to buy in Ukraine… if the house survives the war (almost all will), than you will have a house in Ukraine controlled Ukraine or in Russian controlled Ukraine, and either way the value will go up after the shooting stops. Likely you can buy right now for as little as a quarter of the value if you can find people wanting to leave but being tied to the house until it sells and close to actual combat activities……. (If you can find four houses at a quarter of the value buy all four, hedging your bets because the odds are that two or three will survive the war, so you can sell off after the war keeping one location and profiting off the rest….. keep the property that was destroyed if one was and in the aftermath of the war build the house of your dreams with the profits from the other houses being sold or rented)….

    Well sadly, Ukraine is out for the foreseeable future. Mexico has limitations on non-citizens buying coastal properties. I have friends who bought an 1850's-era mansion in Mérida and have turned it into something fabulous, out of a fairy tale. They spent about a lot to buy and then renovate it, so obviously they have money, but the place is incredible. Much of the real estate in that city is affordable, but in need of renovation which is very reasonably-priced. I've been there twice, including last month. I'm sure that place would sell for at least a few million dollars here in Southern California. They only live there for part of the year and in the Bay Area during the hottest months in that part of Mexico. Mérida is ranked as the safest city in Mexico. Very walkable and with lots of history in evidence everywhere you go.

      @Elias. Chicago is a city i am not even considering to settle in. It is one of the worst in states security wise. I travelled to Mexico many times, loved the local folks and food but I didn't feel safe at all when step out of the hotel areas. The fully armed security guards in grocery stores show the truth

    Buying property in someone else's country is immoral , it rises the cost of housing for local people , takes housing of the market for families trying to get on the ladder .

      I respectfully disagree. When you bring a $100k into a country, that creates jobs for the locals + expenses every month for maintenance, and your own expenses related to you living there.
