Yay for the greenhouse surviving the wind! I'm buried under snow here in Canada. My area is excepting 5-10cm today and another 5-10 overnight. Watching you in the garden is a nice boost for the moral!
You done really well mate, a few on our site have had greenhouse and poly tunnels absolutely mangled. I would remove the pallets then tie it down with decent length ground pegs, over each end and the middle, then i would woodchip all around to fill in any spoaces where the wind can get in. The small hole put some sellotape over it or even better a bit of poly tunnel repair tape if you have any. Try the range for deals such as 4 bags for £12, I do know Clays at Washington have 3 bags of manure for £15. Save space for strawberries and use nice deep half round pipe screwed to your fence or even to the wall where the greenjouse and water butts are. Great video Anthiony and great update. Looking fiorward to your next one mate
Thanks I was very surprised it lasted seen a few videos where people's greenhouses and Polly's were ruined. Definitely going to secure it better this was just a quick fix with what I had. I might get some gorilla tape that does a good job at filling the holes . Thanks definitely having a shop around for compost it's such a big cost for the garden I need to get my compost bins up and running properly to save some money. Glad you are enjoying the videos thanks
Great update Anthony so pleased your greenhouse survived the storms , I have put a picture on Threads for you to help with protecting your cabbages mate bargain really but keep up the good work
Glad everything and everyone was ok Anthony 👍👍, that was one hell of a storm. We can only do so much against mother nature the rest is praying 🙏, Ali 🥶❄️🇨🇦
Well you survived the storm. Luckily the wind came mainly from the West. You need to get your ropes and attach to the ground with very well secured posts (maybe 2 feet into the ground). Can you secure it directly to the wall cos that would be great. The main thing is that everything is ok. Stay safe!
We did I think it was more lucky than anything. Yea I will be doing that with the ropes. That part of the war hasn't got anything to secure it too unfortunately. Thanks
@@JacobsonFamilyAllotmentit will be a wall with studs so you could find where the studs are and attach there OR you could attach between the studs in which case you will either need to attach support on the other side or you could use those screws that have a butterfly that opens up and secures to the wall from the other side. I don’t know what they are called in the us. But they are used to secure things to a gyproc (gypsum board) wall. I would imagine that they are available in every hardware store.
I still have a concern about the shading from the west side by the wall. It will be fine along the path for greens, radishes etc but I would put the bushes along the other side of your allotment - there will be a lot more sun. I would also think about putting your trees on that side too. You will be growing soon :). I will still be in Spain until April.
If I remember the sun still hits that part of the plot even when it's in the west. The trees make a lot of shade on the plot anyways from the west. Can't wait to start growing enjoy Spain
glad the greenhouse still standing as for B&Q take time to look at them compost bags the bigs ones think 13 quid ones look for the torn busted ones we get them 3 quid each for our alotment
I have been looking at the bags online but if they do discount for them being torn I might have to go in and have a look thanks for the tip the cost of compost is going up so much now
i found the best way to secure these small " flimsies " is to use road pins on the inside and tir to them. it worked for me in the past.....................brian
ive just put slabs on the bottom shelves in my one of those green houses it helps so much they arent the ideal for space but bottom you don need any way
@@JacobsonFamilyAllotment definitely they did the job! on my bigger poly tunnel i used tent pegs all around the inside tucked the plastic under and pegged though
@__Shellspace__ I would be worried if it ripped with the peg through but if it's under ground might not move. Definitely try. should be getting a bigger Polly tunnel later in the year when the wind goes
i buried my poly tunnel frame and cover about 6 inches deep obviously not door piece been up 5 seasons now no problems at all so far also covered with netting has been great best wishes xx
I am glad it survived too hopefully will for the year I have never thought about Amazon didn't think it would have been that cheap for it thanks for the idea
With the compost, if you have The tange near you, the irganic compost ( weed free) 50lt bags four bags for £10. !!!! And the store near me had just had deliveries and plenty of it in stock. I used them last year all the time and everything grew soooo well, whereas a lot of people on my allotment had problems growing stuff. Its soooo cheap! 4 x 50lt bags for £10!!! I picked up 12 bags yesterday
Thank you I will have to get over to there that's probably the best price I have heard about so far I was 50/50 on have the b&q ones were they had weeds already growing in them when I got them too.
thanks I am just round the corner from there we walk there sometimes take about 20 mins. wasn't sure of the prices from there i do enjoy their garden centre and café, thanks

Why don't you try putting the canes inside, quite deeply if you can and tie them to the framework.
I am thinking of doing this but I am going to buy the strong plastic ones and use them instead of the bamboo. Thanks
