The spinning fans at the air intake is likely a centrifugal air cleaner. The air spins at high rate of speed. The dust and dirt particles spin out to the outer edges and collect or eject. The air is purged of any dirt so only cleaner air is drawn into the engine. Its not 100% efficient, but much better than no air filter. I am looking forward to an update. Did you get it running?
I have a '29 Packard - the Lucas 30 weight racing oil has zinc in it and it's relatively cheap. You need the zinc for any old flathead or flat tappet engine. Good work!
IF I recall correctly,, that's a "Starterator" -Both a starter and generator. Happy to see you use "Non-Detergent" oil! Too many young'uns today use HD oil, even with the later Mopar flathead sixes that were only partial-flow filtered. Some just don't grasp the concept that high-detergent oil in partial-filtration engines is _not good._ Anyway- looking forward to the start! Good Luck!
That would be similar to the Delco-Remy starter generator that was used on millions of lawn equipment,I remember reading that Dodge used a 12 volt system at one time and pre Chrysler days Dodges were preferred by the famous general "Black Jack" Pershing as staff cars during WWI simply because of their toughness and durability.
That air intake was designed to bring warm air to the carburetor so in the cold months the carburetor won't freeze up .. the only problem is theirs no air filter
That type air cleaner was used on quite a few cars including Lincoln, I remember reading an article about someone who restored one of those, first time I've seen one since then
I have a 1925 same car with wood wheels would your wire wheels fit my car? I would be interested in trading they have new white walls on them and the spare? Or you have a extra set? To sell?!
I wonder how far the restoration is at this moment ... Nice little vid about this oldie! 😀 The SAE30 oil (also used in 2stroke-engines) is a good choice but once the engine is totally OK you could use "normal" 20W40. Every modern oil will be better than the oil used in the 30ies! I would adapt (if possible) the valve-seats to use with unleaded fuel.
Nope, a flat tappet flathead needs zinc to help lubricate the valves and tappets - without that, you're going to wear them out a whole lot faster. The oil produced when these cars were new had quite a bit of zinc in it for that express purpose.
The bearing are babbitt for sure it really does not need leaded gas to run but it is recommended when driving it and today's oils are so much better then anything they were running back then and for sure a oil with zinc if recommended for sure
Defiantly need more videos on this car keep up the good work
Hope to wrap the dodge up soon.

Nice project! My Mom was 2 years old when your car was built as she just turned 100 yesterday Feb. 1st
That’s awesome.
Gotta love these old cars!!!
That music drives me nuts lol so I just mute it till words are spoken
I understand. Everyone has a taste and I’m sure I’ll use other music on other videos
nice test drive, she holds the road good, with no smoke, you are running on 3 out of 4 cyls tho, good luck !

Chain drive starter/generator..the carburator is a Detroit Lubricator. The original constant velocity carburator
That's a beautiful car I probably seen one of them in my lifetime
You can get non detergent straight 30wt at NAPA, if they're in your area.
Thanks
@@throttle_junkies Usually find non-detergent oils at farm and tractor supply busineses.

When are we getting the next instalment. I look forward to your videos
Soon I hope.
I’ve been closing/moving to a new house which has caused some delays.
Did you get the Dodge running and driving? I have a 1926/7 and some parts and books for older cars. let me know what you need. Todd
I bought a house and have been remodeling it so car has been on the back burner.
Update videos to come soon.
Those spark plugs are the original type that can be taken to pie to be cleaned the large generator is a starter /generator which does both jobs
Looks like you may need to replace the king pins on the front axle.
Yep
That type air cleaner was used on quite a few cars including Lincoln, I remember reading an article about someone who restored one of those, first time I've seen one since then
Yeah they are odd
whats the current status? running? sold?
Check out my newest video to see it running! Thanks!
Does that oil have zinc in it? You will need zinc in the oil.
Yep added Lucas oil zinc additive
Hey guys I own a 1920 dodge how do I get the hand crank cover plug of its not rusted
Only complaint is having to mute that music
Working on that.
That was music?
I just fast forward to when the music stoped
I AGREE, it is irritating
How do I find the next you tube up load of this
So far not have two ideas on the car.
More will be conning shortly
That’s your starter and generator! In one
I have a 1925 same car with wood wheels would your wire wheels fit my car? I would be interested in trading they have new white walls on them and the spare? Or you have a extra set? To sell?!
What is with the annoying Sonar music???? 😐
Wow this music is really annoying. I love the car and you dog. Maybe I'll come back later.
I hope you do. The music will change from video to video.
Nice car .
Thanks
cute doggie
Thanks
Would like the vids, minus the distracting music, over and over.
I agree I’m still learning what’s good and what’s not so hang out on the channel for upcoming videos.

Should have two videos out soon.
I moved shops which slowed my progress a lot.

In the first video you kicked the front bumper and you’re slamming that hood open and closed. Show your Grandfathers car some respect.
I’m just treating it like he did 👌
It looks like an early 20s Dodge
It’s a 24
Dang that's almost like an early idea on a super charger. Hummm
Nice just pick up the same car
That’s awesome. They are still out there if you look enough.
I would definitely use leaded gas, a high zinc oil, I'm bet the bearings are babbitt.

Agreed
cool project , annoying too loud music
Yeah working on better music
"MUSIC"?
Hello narration leaves a lot to desired
