The sin Archbishops are awesome antagonists. I've come to generally like in more when the main villains are not something that can simply be defeated by the protagonist physically overpowering them as that just tends to be a recipe for an endless cycle of power creep and other characters end up being useless. In re zero Subaru needs the help of his friends and allies just as much as his friends need him to overcome the witch's cult.
They're some of my favorite villains of all time. As you explained they are the type that (tries to) ignore power creep. They ignore many of the awful pitfalls most other villains take. They're so varied and well utilized as a group as well which is even a point over groups like the Spiders. Yes even HxH does not utilize the Spiders nearly as well. There are a handful of members who take a backseat most of the time. Though the Spiders have their own strong points for sure but some of their members just stand out far too strongly. it hurts the group dynamic. Each of these characters is like a puzzle in how to defeat them which my favorite part.
Sin archbishop of lust is the most terrifying for me, she can turn you into any insect or horrible looking creature and you lose your conciousness slowly and literally becoming that monster. Nah thats like idle transfiguration from JJK.

Did I miss the explanation in the series on how they also have that scent or has it never been explained? It's super interesting to me, that side of it. I hope Tappei delves into more details on the matter before they're inevitably wiped from the story for good, only one Archbishop left is... Eesh. In terms of their powers, at least Petelgeuse's crew have that shadow mobility thing going on but I'd assume that's a general technique most of them possess. I imagine this is done through miasma but there's no information on how it might be manipulated. Or if it can. Or how it can. Especially for someone without a Witch Factor as we know that they are useful for more things than just giving their host a permanent logic-defying superpower. Echidna is implied to have been capable of doing stuff with her own but I can't remember all the details on that. Wasn't it only focused into an aura that could kill people without resistance like other Authority users? We know that that Dorkell guy made a technique that even they found heretical, which says a lot about them. Though that's not really a commonplace event. How do they train them? Are there facilities we're unaware of around the Re:Zero world that deal in that? Petelgeuse is the only Archbishop to show any care for that side of it, the only other one with any form of organisational management skills being Capella who does her own thing. I'd imagine that there are a lot of general use abilities for miasma- assuming that I'm right and it can be used as a sort of mana-substitute or add on- that they get taught. We know that misama can be corruptive, though Witch Factor holders seem to be immune to their own, but that likely means that their consistent crazy behaviour has basis in their use of it. They can also all sense it, which is statistically improbable to be a natural element of each person recruited. Then again, the Gospel's muddy the waters on what kind of information is reasonable or not for them to get their hands on with its diluted link to Od Laguna. I dunno, I've got a lot of questions about the Witch Cult that I don't think we've gotten answers to. Also Capella's Authority is insane and has the most potential uses out of any of them in the most amount of situations. Would totally be the power I'd want out of the lot, lol.

He also stated that if Lye ate more Names then he could become one of the most powerful Warlock's in the series and compete in Regulus' tier of fighting power? I think. It's been a while. Also, Subaru himself was capable of being considered as a Warlock *at least* after gaining Invisible Providence in the very slight chance that Return by Death isn't his own Authority of Envy.
