    What is the real value? Some people say to use the gray patch value of 50 to determine the exposure value and use the white patch value of 94-95 to set the highlight.

    Good morning, chatting all the way from PEI Canada 🇨🇦, stumbled upon your videos in the last couple weeks, love them!!! I'm a beginner,, been in love with photography for the last 20 years but never really dived in. I have now decided that I want to! Just ordered a new MacBook Pro that should be here this week, very exciting 😀 I will now need to learn photo shop and light room. I've sig5up for a few courses and of course watching TH-cam,, I very will be following you as I like your layouts, so thank you!!! I currently use a little Canon t3i with Canon 50mm and sigma 70-300mm,,, I did a car photoshoot the other day and found my little camera did need some time to catch up.. I will be purchasing the canon r6 sooner then later then the 28-70mm lens,, but that will be a bit later.. my goal is to spend the next couple years only taking Mini photoshoots at around $180.00 for 15 photos... family, animals,,, how's that sound as a goal???? (Yes, lots of information)

    Hi Jess! I can't find "camera neutral" in my LR profiles. Mine is called "camera standardV2"! I do have portrait and landscape and all that fun stuff but not NEUTRAL. Mhhh

    Sinse the color checker has white black and Grey, if someone was to get just one way product would you say is most helpful? Cube or color checker? Also do you know if their monitor calibrator can be used on a MacBook pro laptop or just desktop monitors?

      The Black patch on Spyder checker is not absolutely black.

    Great little object ! Do you need to focus on a specific area of the cube, or anywhere on it is fine ? Thanks Jess !

    Thank you again for another great tutorial 😊.. I, m quite new to photography and I, m still not 100% on how to use grey black and white cards.. Do you have any links to tutorials on that please as I have been photographing black and white Rabbits and anything to help is great! Ps I want one of those cube things just to spin around... 😂.. Even tho I, m not sure of how to use it.

      No worries, glad you enjoyed it. We do have several videos on white balance from using a grey card in the field to tweaking the white balance post shoot. Here is the video on using a grey card in the field th-cam.com/video/2wVQZLQaWLM/w-d-xo.html

    Hi Jess. Can you use the Cube and/or the Checker with flash ? or is that a very amateur question

  • @belleboca5997
    @belleboca5997 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Does the cube need to be correctly exposed to be accurate?

    • @ThatPhotographySpot
      @ThatPhotographySpot  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      To a certain extent yes, it needs to be well exposed but doesn't have to be perfect 😊

  • @klausnielsen7111

    Just wondering, isn't it possible to do the same thing with the colour checker? I mean, if the black spot or the white spot is clipping?
    OK, the chrome on the cube might be better, but the colour checker also has the colours.
    Just a thought...

    • @ThatPhotographySpot
      @ThatPhotographySpot  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I wouldn't use a flat board for clipping, it shouldn't have any clipping on it. The Cube works because the clipping check is inside the hole, not on a flat face if that makes sense?
