If wiring loom or FCU installed, easy enough to route the motor wires through the front trigger hole and the other out the back - allows this ez mode bevel height checking too without having to run the wires through the grip and motor removing / adding back etc. Time is money!
getting a quality motor grip like the madbull or pts stuff will help. the other thing that will help is not necessarily a specific motor, but having a motor tower or shimming the motor tower to fit the gearbox is one of the best ways to improve your shimming.
Dreaming to build my own dsg gel blaster but im still stupid about term of build dsg,about everything from internal & mag for dsg..just now i just know to build 13:1 gear ratio with hightorque motor with incosistant fps lol
HPA is so boring. No pride in building something. When you build an AEG that kicks ass, you can say "I built that" When you go HPA, people are like, "oh you got HPA" I like tech work more than playing, so to each their own.

do you test it with just gears first? or do you just jump straight to piston firing?
Sometimes no sometimes yes, depending on wether it’s a custom gear set etc.. like the 13:1 DSG build
have you found the modular boxes reliable to date?
No issues so far bud, so much easier to work on.
