Message to brokers: without a driver and a truck, you are doing nothing but pushing paper around.

Message to truckers who use brokers: without someone to put freight on your truck, all you have is an expensive lawn ornament.
It is supposed to be a mutually beneficial relationship between brokers and truckers.

Message to broker: Carriers can broker freight directly from shippers hence you’re irrelevant.

I love doing that trick. I always ask for more then i know the broker is going to say no too. Sometimes they give me the price i want. But yes "lets meet in the middle" is on of my go too that usually work pretty good for me. Now if they dont give it too me i just look for another load. I drive a hard bargain and know where my numbers got to be....

As a broker, my advice in negotiating for truck drivers would be to start at $200 more than what you are willing to run the load for. Small enough increase that sometimes you will get it, large enough increase that I will know right away if we are wasting our time. If your offer is $200 more than what my top dollar is, I will continue to negotiate, if your offer is $500 more than what my top dollar is, I will be ending that phone call within 10 seconds.

Negotiations need to start with the real facts of current inflated operating Costa which is way higher than brokers ever admit.Brokers should have to pay the operating cost of 1 trk for 1 month. Its a reality we deal with not just talk

For real. I see fuel is going down and the rates now are averaging around $1.50ish i wont even go out to my truck for that rate. If it wasnt for alaska my truck would be sitting at the house. Kinda nice not having a truck payment so not needing to run

Can you be a Freight Broker with your own truck? Good or bad??

Brokers use that same trick all the time where do you think the carriers got the terminology from and most brokers these days are making more like 40% vs 15-20% because I’ve had a few send me the wrong Rate Con where they accidentally put the amount of the load vs what they where paying me

Totally agree. I turn the game right back on them. Another one of my go to is when they ask me where i need to be and i usually shot for the moon on the rate. Biggest rate i got was $22,000 since i been doing this.

I promise you brokers aren't making 40%. They will make 40% on some loads. Heck, I probably had 5 loads this month that have made over 100% in margin. But I also have had about 40 loads that have lost money this month, and for the month total I'm around 17%, and that is one of the higher numbers in my office.

@@BrandonH321 maybe for you but this has happened more than a few times I saw it with my own eyes maybe they where rushing and accidentally put what they were being paid for the load and had to turn right around and send updated rate con with the amount we agreed on which I wasn’t tripping because I got what I wanted but 7k looks a whole lot better than 4k and this just happened 2 days ago that made the 3rd time this has happened with different brokers I have broker & carrier authority so I see things from both points of views so as a broker unless I don’t make a dime I’m not losing nothing but time because the overhead is minimal compared to owner ops

@@BrandonH321I responded to ur post but for some reason it’s not on here but ur reply is false maybe true for you but brokers are definitely getting big payouts and unless u make absolutely nothing off of a load you are losing nothing but time because broker’s overhead is minimal compared to owner ops
