    Update on pricing - I found that SlikhaarShop is probably the best, most consistent place to get this. They have essentially the entire range, for $30 each.

    I have hair very similar to yours, thick, wavy, on the dry side and with a tendency to go frizzy, yet Rough Rider has been my favorite everyday clay for the past year. I find that prepping the hair with a smoothing product like Paul Mitchell’s Super Skinny Serum gives really awesome results, counterbalancing any dryness coming from the diatomaceous earth. Looking forward to the Night Rider review!

    Hey Matt, like I said on your insta, this has been my go to product for now. Very close to the clutch though. What I use is sea salt first, let it chill for 10mins (dries a bit) then add the KM product. Holds ALL day and you can run your fingers through. So I found this product for $27 at a local salon. Weird huh!? Great review bro 🤙🏼

      TDM Style hey man love the channel. I have a question about the shehvoo ocean clay. Will the shehvoo activating oil cleanser wash it out? Just thought I ask because I’ve only used Argan oil with Morocco shampoo and never tried washing it out with the oil cleanser. Plus no one really said anything about washing it out of your hair out with it, they said you need a good shampoo to get it out

    • @TDMStyle
      @TDMStyle  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I haven’t used either of them in a while but from what I remember, the Ocean Clay did need a shampoo to come out. The oil cleanser is very mild so it probably would not totally wash the clay out.

    Hey, matt you should try night rider, actually hair product chris hemsworth uses! ...Pro tip with Kevin Murphy is that they only sell to salons because fakes of their products are made and sold on places like Amazon. If you go to a salon ask your stylist if they'll buy it for you. Do this with mine and because she is certified stylist she can get them directly from Australia for 50% off price tag!

    If you go to a salon, you'll get it for 30 bucks. And yes, rough rider is okay... But you definitely need to try " night rider" ! That one is waaaayyyy better! Matte finish without that dry feel, MUCH higher hold, better texture, super light tangerine smell that you can't smell after it's applied and rinses out with water 👌🏼🙂

      LoligeAktion rough rider is good of you have thick hair in my opinion. But it weighs down thinner textured hair like mine, unfortunately. When I tried night rider in my hair, I was like.. Wow.. This stuff holds lol but maybe your hair texture goes perfectly with rough rider. I wasn't a fan of how difficult it was to wash it out though, versus night rider comes out with just water.

    • @LoligeAktion

      Tamas Menyhart ah yes totally makes sense now. I have thick hair. Night rider seems to be perfect for thin hair. Rough rider perfect for thick.

    I think KM has reformulated the product. For me, it still has the hold, the volume is there. But it doesn't give me a dry matte finish, it gives me a low to a medium shine, quite weird for a clay like product.

    I love your content!! I need help finding a hair product though. I've tried Claymation by Hanz de Fuko, and the hold was not nearly enough for me.. it would go flat after about 5-10 minutes. What low shine, extremely high hold product would you recommend? I don't mind a little shine, but I hate the greasy/wet look.. I'm really looking for something to hold my hair and help me maintain a professional look all day long.

    • @TDMStyle
      @TDMStyle  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks Justin! I know what you mean. I'd definitely recommend trying something like Pre Game from TheSalonGuy. It's honestly one of the strongest-holding products I've used to date, but still feels very light in the hair so it's easy to maintain big volume, and stays pliable all day for easy restyling. It starts out with a low shine and then over time transforms into a matte look. Really unique stuff.

    Great review Matt! but i've been wondering. I have a lot of thin/normal hair. So almost every clay makes my hair fall down. What would u recommend for my hair? It's fairly straight with a little wave. I'm aiming for the modern quiff with a matt texture.

    • @TDMStyle
      @TDMStyle  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks man! Hm so it sounds like you’ve been using probably traditional heavy clays? I’d try something lighter like Clutch by TheSalonGuy or the new Clay Fiber by Stickmore. Also I’d suggest starting with a smaller amount than you think you need, and layer more in if necessary. That way you’re not adding too much weight. Hope this helps!

    • @Yoric1995
      @Yoric1995 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      TDM Style I love it how you take the time to answer this sort of questions. I’ll defenitly try one of those because you’re right. I used cavalier, etc.. indeed heavy clays. Is there any prestyler you’d suggest to achieve the mariano di vaio kind of flow? Thanks already dude! Appreciate it.

      Probably a bit better for shorter styles, but if you want something with coarse texture and some flow it would probably work okay. Haven't used this one in a loooong time though so I might be a bit rusty on its performance.

    • @TDMStyle
      @TDMStyle  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Nah, this product would be way too thick/heavy and dry for that length. For hair that long I'd recommend going with something lighter like a texture cream or powder, that will give you some control and hold without the heaviness.

    • @TDMStyle
      @TDMStyle  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah I feel you, Quicksand is brutal. This stuff is not nearly as gritty or tangly as that. This I can take a fairly normal sized scoop and apply smoothly, even though it does have some grittiness. As for the hold yeah, it was still quite strong even on my longer hair.

    Which products do you think work well for a short textured quiff (about 2 inches)?

    • @TDMStyle
      @TDMStyle  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hmm there are a ton of products that work well for that length of hair. Depending on what shine level you want, you could use anything from a paste to a clay to even a pomade. I'd say a bit of paste would work well for you.

    • @juamart9028
      @juamart9028 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I want a matte finish! As my hair is a bit thick and it's short maybe I need texture over hold, no? Do you think light clays (like arcadian) or pastes can give that texture more than heavy clays like baxter's or lockharts?

    • @TDMStyle
      @TDMStyle  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Really any clay will give you the texture you’re after, but yeah something light would work fine since your hair is so short. Heavy clays might be a bit overkill unless you use a super tiny amount.

    Can you please compare rr with moroccanoil texture clay?

    • @TDMStyle
      @TDMStyle  6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      They are very different. RR has more hold, more grittiness. About the same matte finish though.

    Diatomaceous Earth is a type of clay... as far as I know .....

    • @TDMStyle
      @TDMStyle  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's actually very finely ground stone, but I suppose we can just consider it a clay lol

    This or clutch clay?

    • @TDMStyle
      @TDMStyle  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      For me Clutch 100%. But they are extremely different products so it depends on what you want.

    • @sean23
      @sean23 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Niceee but would you prefer pregame over clutch ?

    • @TDMStyle
      @TDMStyle  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Again they are extremely different products so I wouldn't really say I prefer one over the other - I like them both for different situations.

    I will never, ever, buy this thanks to this review. I hate that extreme dry feeling.

      I totally get that. Tbh though that doesn't really happen with this unless you overdo it and go in with too much. If you use a tiny amount it works pretty well.

    Is this or free hold better If I'm gay and kinda feminine

    • @TDMStyle
      @TDMStyle  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I mean I think your choice of hair product depends on what you want your hair to look/feel/hold like and has nothing to do with sexuality... so if you want something light-holding and natural/flowy, then go with Free Hold. If you want something dry and gritty with strong hold (better for shorter cuts), go with Rough Rider.
