Modern Man TV thx Mike will give it a try with the matt paste. Think it will have an easier application like „old“ traditional sticky waxes. Thats why I saw a little similarity 2 pre game. This new approach of easier application waxes 👌🏻
Hey sorry I didn't see this until now! Not really, I find the Wax Cream to be quite different from Pre Game. For me the Wax Cream is a bit stickier application but sets up pretty instantly into what it will be like for the rest of the day in terms of moldability/hold/finish etc. Where as for me, Pre Game starts out really easy to apply and feels waxy at first but then eventually shifts into totally matte and almost clay-like texture.
Thanks so much man! Pretty crazy to see these out there finally. Really appreciate you taking a look 👍🙏 also with the wax cream.. it seems you kinda get why I had a hard time naming it.. is it a wax? Is it a cream?... yes 😂
This may seem early, as I haven't tried any of the products, and you probably wouldn't want to give news about your brand that literally just released all the stuff you spent 3 years on, but is there a plan to release an oil based pomade
Abram Dutton no problem! If you have a question ask away! I’m here to help. Right now no I don’t have plans for an OB pomade but you never know what the future may hold!
The salon guy has this new matte paste, in collaboration with flagship... Man.. It says extreme hold, easy application etc.. Kinda excited to see some reviews on it!
I no it’s not related to the video...but have you got any tips or advice to help with limp hair? I find naturally it just stays quite flat naturally and struggle to get movement to where I want it to go. I blow dry my hair which does help but still find it to be quite stubborn at times.
I know that feel. I used to have the same problem and to be honest, mostly it was that my blow drying technique was not really there yet. After lots of practice and consulting with my stylist about how to blow dry with a round brush etc, now I can basically make big volume regardless of product (to an extent). Really it comes down to applying good tension to the hair with a brush and the angle at which you're pulling the hair up from your head while blow drying. For big volume, you want to pull the hair up at a perpendicular angle or even a little bit forward - so that way, when you go to lay it back, the roots want to stay standing more upright.
Also I'm gunna do a shameless plug and say follow the Salon Guy. Any question you could possibly have about your hair that man has probably answered. Lol
Thanks man! Hmm I think my personal favorite is the wax cream one since you can do so much with it and the hold is real strong. Also I really love the grooming oil!
Basically I get a no. 2 clipper on the sides, blended into the top so it’s not too disconnected, and the top is usually around 6 inches long in front and tapered to around 3 inches at the back.
Hey Matt! Can you review the Analogue Paste by The Apothecary Malaysia? It is a home brewed product in Malaysia and I would like to hear your opinion on it. 🙃🙃🙃
Which product will have a cucumber mint scent? I’m on the hunt for some good smelling products. I prefer men’s products, they smell better to me. Haven’t found a good smelling women’s product since aveda’s control paste- they’re all too perfumey to me!
The grooming oil of this line is the only product with the cucumber mint scent option, at least for now. I know what you mean though! There are plenty of products I could recommend for you though with some fabulous scents. What type of product/hairstyle are you after?
My hair is about an inch above shoulder length. I have a lot of hair, but it’s fine and straight so I need something to add some texture/hold. I usually use a little Aveda’s Control Paste or my husband’s American Crew fiber paste. I just lightened it a couple of levels, so I’m hoping to find something that will be more moisturizing but not greasy like a pomade.
Yeah there are plenty of good ones for that hair type, depending on what sort of style and finish you want. Of the Dauntless line I’d def recommend the wax cream!
Hey :) Maybe you can help me to choose as you reviewed two products of which I want to try one. It´s about the matte paste of this brand or the Trade Union Supply Texture Clay. (My fav at the moment is Arcadian matte paste and I like also Northern Lights matte paste. But I´d like to have something additional and these two seem a bit creamier to me,I don´t lie tuck and pull and to loose hairs :D .) Have fine hair and use usually not too much, just enough to shape a litte, hold there and give structure with fingers. It´s good if one can just add a little to restyle (for Arcadian matte paste before all that works for me quite nice, also next day). Could you give recommendation about them for which one is easier to work in and so on?
Of those two I prefer the Dauntless matte paste - it’s drier and lighter. Both are very easy to apply but for me the Trade Union clay is a bit too heavy and waxy for me
LOL 😂Well I know Mike said he didn't want to put an expectation of them to be super strong and have the hold turn out to be lower. So he went with medium to be more label-accurate, and people can certainly dial it up to a more firm by just adding a little more product. Dat wax cream doe, that thing definitely has a real strong hold.
Bayside is stronger hold and is drier. Both have great texture. Also you don’t need to post the same comment a bunch of times on different videos lol, I’ll see it eventually.
Product quality would be more obvious if you styled your hair in a way that challenges gravity. If it's laying like that you can't say anything about the hold.
I disagree. “Hold” implies how well a product keeps your style in place. So this will mean different things for different people with different hair lengths and styles. Sure, for some that means crazy tall spikes or whatever, but that’s not my thing.
Marty McFly the dauntless word means fearlessness, in my video introducing the brand it discusses what that word means to me and the story behind the brand how it came to be named that 👍🙏
I am a little disappointed with the longevity of the product in the hair. You can see that it loses a lot of volume during the day, and even more so when the product promises to give you "volume". I was also disappointed not to see a product that is clay with high hold. I feel that the 3 products are somewhat repetitive with what they offer each of them, since the 3 are of medium hold and with texture and "volume". I expected more from MMTV, honestly.
I mean the wax cream literally lasted for two days in my hair with zero volume loss, so I’d say that one is definitely a solid high volume, firm hold deal. And while I didn’t have demo video of the matte paste on the day I did 3 scoops, it definitely held up better in the volume and hold department. It was just too dry for me at that point as I mentioned, so I opted to demo it at a more comfortable 2 scoop medium for me.
Because Feelings well the idea was that we went through the 3 years of testing so that no reformulations would need to take place. The hold and endurance strength was tested by over a dozen people with various hair types/lengths/styling preferences/climates/habits and the formulas they all agreed on (which wasn’t easy considering it was that many people) ended up in the lineup. I was conservative with the hold strength indicator to avoid over shooting it.
you should probably try the products before you try to come in with your "expectations". While the scoops seem a bit similar, thats about all they have in common. they're great products and this video shows them off nicely.
DAUNTLESS is launching today, Friday, Sept. 20th at 7pm CST!
TDM Style it’s actually live now!
TDM Style is the wax cream comparable to pre game? Pre Game brought me back to wax products. ✌🏻
ysl 4pf not quite for me but Matt might have a different opinion too.
