For ages I was trying to describe to people an artstyle in my head that I called "top-down, rustic, cosy vector art". I couldn't find any perfect examples of what I was imagining. This is it. Like exactly what was in my head.
Downloaded the demo after seeing the art style. My god, open world game where you can plant, trade, explore, craft, fight AND no death penalty? I almost cried. Then wishlisted.
A friend of mine had flowers that were supposed to die in the winter, but the base of their house was brick and the bricks kept their garden warm enough that the flowers came back every year. Plants are weird.
Then they were perennials that only go dormant in winter and came back every year, as they are supposed to do. Annuals do not stay alive year round even in warm climates. It has nothing to do with temperature. It is about growth, bloom, and seeding cycle.

Your block / parry is being broken by the bandit using HEAVY strikes (shift+attack). You need to dodge those, blocking only works on light strikes. This game reminds me a lot of Ultima: Pagan, I like it.
Okay, just finished playing the demo and it was fun. It was not bad. Demo ends after the 3 day timer is over, no saves. Managed to fully repair the house, crafted serrated steel sword and great helm. Didn't get time to explore much other than a bandit camp to the north east. Crafting one at a time instead of multiples is a pain. You can fully remove trees if you continue hacking the stump. Building walls might be bugged, my stone wall just crafted a wooden post. I have no real complaints about the combat other than blocking needs to be better, I usually just time it when they charge and hit them and jump back.
Just started another playthrough of Kenshin a few days ago. You are correct, there is nothing like it. I try to recommend it to people and am not even sure how to describe it to them.
I had this video paused and somehow unpaused it during me playing Manor Lords. I was focused on my hunting camp watching a guy clean the deer. And they usually talk in the game, random things. When I started hearing things about underpants and I was shocked the NPC I thought was talking about underpants and ranting on about other things. Think I unpaused it around 4 minutes in. Took me a little bit to figure out the voice was coming from this video.

At around 20:11, you take issue with the bandit's attack hitting you while he is facing the wrong way. I don't think it's a combat design flaw. I think it's a sweep attack with a 180-degree hit box extended out a bit designed as intended. I haven't played it, so I could be wrong, but that's what it looks like to me.
This video was so funny, I just wanna go now and get the demo. So funny, I agree with the pop up menu hud for tools is sadly not a fav of mine either. But still the game does look fab so I am going to give it a go. 😊👍
I think the art style and aesthetics are on point, and everything visually looks very polished.
