    Cool, very similar to the Rickenbacker that George bought when he went to visit his sister in Illinois (though I recall he had the shop refinish it in black).

    Obsessed with playing the EXACT guitar parts for nearly 50 years. Thanks to YT, isolated videos, and especially Ably House I'm still learning. This channel seems especially niche. I don't imagine there are too many out there like me. I'm SO grateful.

      Electro was Rickenbacker's lower-level brand...sort of like Gibson and Epiphone (though I wouldn't describe Epiphone back when they were made in Kalamazoo as a budget line). They were made in the same factory.

    Sounds just like the record. Interesting George never played those F#-E bends on the B-string in live performances, even though such a prominent hook in the song

      Yeah, I've always found that interesting.

    • @JesperSalama
      @JesperSalama 3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Yeah. When playing live, he usually mimicked the 5-4-5-6-7-- riff on the A string instead (overdubbed on the recording).

    • @richardk1ify
      @richardk1ify 3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Maybe the Country Gentleman with the strings at the time was harder to bend?

    • @Vincentlpp08

      @@riogrande163 Not really. The guitars sounded full and had wonderful tone in the mix compared to some of the guitar sounds now that hardly ever display the guitar sound. It is covered up by to many effects.

      @riogrande163 3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      @@louisaccardi2268 Listen to all my loving or happy just to dance with you, John's guitar is very bright, with not much bottom end.
      And recording tech in the early 60's couldnt capture bass frequencies all that well either, hence why the bass was so murky until paperback writer.
      Later beatles songs had the guitars mixed much fuller.
      As for George's part on this song, he used a rick, which is naturally brighter sounding than the gretsch guutar you might be used to seeing being played.
      Also what does guitar effects have to do with anything? We're talking about EQ and mixing.

      @@riogrande163 I remember when I first heard the Beatles songs like I want to hold your hand, and she loves you, I was floored at how full their sound was. It was that which got me into playing guitar when I was 15 years old. I would agree with you about some of the low end not being as great compared to what we have now. Yes you're right about that.
