Simple ideas to add to this tutorial: Shop (something that makes purchasable items appear and disappear) and Price Scaling (making prices automatically increase by a percentage after every purchase. For example, if you have an item that costs 10, you buy 10 of it per second, and are making 100 per second you will exponentially gain more. If the price goes up by a percent then it will become to expensive to buy every second.)

we could perhaps use the purchasable items concept for other games to like combining the with other sorts of games to unlock a new character with the points we've got, yeah? :)
I always wanted to make a game and i finally made one this tutorial was so easy.
you can also use this method to make the apple grow and shrink
1. make a second costume of the sprite that is the bigger/smaller verson of the apple
2. make the third costume which is same is the first costume
3. put "when this sprite clicked"
4. add sound
5. add the block "switch costume to (second costume)"
6. add the wait block
7. add the block ""switch costume to (third costume)"
8. add the block "change points by 1
version not verson
I'm using click detection instead of the "when sprite is clicked" block, because it would still run the code even if the project has stopped.

Thank You So Much!! I have been learning scratch from here and made a wonderful snake game.
Something this video doesn’t include is a “wait until mouse down” block in the click script. This will prevent the player from just holding down the click button, and will instead wait until the player stops holding the click button to give them the point. (Based on this script using the “when this sprite clicked” event block this is probably not needed for it to work properly)

Thank you so much! I was already using another tutorial when I started making a cookie clicker game and then stumbled across this! I used the automatic points per seconds variable and code on my project as the other tutorial changed it by x every time we clicked it and then I was like, Hmm, something doesn't feel right then I realised that clicking every time and cookies change by x is way too over powered!

you should also teach people how to make a separate "shop" screen with the items that only shows when you click a specific button. there's a ton of games that utilize this sort of feature for pause screens, menu screens, etc. ik you can just see inside other games to figure this out but still

Idea: instead of leaving the if points < 10 block empty you could make it play some error sound or something
Also you could make the item more expensive every time you buy it or you would get a whole ton of points way too quickly

Hi Zoe! I'm having a problem with the fading code of a sprite. I did exactly what you did to fade the orange in the video, yet the ghost effect code in my code seems to be fading up to a point where the orange cannot be seen and does not stay at 60% transparency. Is there any way to fix this? I'm new to this btw.
Nvm Zoe, I finally figured it out after I took a short break! I accidentally put the wrong event code, it must be due to my frustration earlier because i couldn't solve it. Thanks again for the simple and clear tutorial! 👍👍

**gasp** WHOA IVE BEEN PLAYING UR PROJECT THIS WHOLE TIME (anyways i added a watermelon in my clicker)
if you dont want to use a ghost effect to make a item look greyed out, you can do "set colour effect (1/0)" for whatever reason it turns the object black&white
it's because 1/0 isn't a number (it has a symbol in it, the slash), so it defaults to 0 color effect, effectively turning it monochrome.
@@think_of_a_storyboard3635 i meant like the division operator block but i guess that any other non number string works too
@@fran5678can oh, 1/0 is infinity, which DEFINITELY isn't a number, so it still ends up with the same result.

I found for 6:40 that the A Elec Bass sound is like an error noise and would work great in the "if" section!

If you want multiple items with different costs and it's glitching when you have enough to buy the lowest cost one, just replace clear graphic effects with set ghost effect to 0.

For people who wants to make the shop clickable like those games try making a block in the paint thingy and then label them Shop! After that Put a ''When sprite clicked'' And put the ''Broadcast Message1'' below it and make a big block that covers the screen, and Make ''When flag clicked'' Put ''Hide'' Below it, now as to make the Block that cover your screen pop up, Put the ''When i receive message1'' And put the ''Show'' Below it. And Draw a Sprite that is the ''X'' simbol and put it on the corner. Make the X ''When sprite clicked'' put ''Broadcast Message2'' *Make an new name* and then the big block , put ''When i receive message 2'' Put ''hide'' And now choose any sprites you want for display, Follow the 3:46 Part if you want it to be purchased, Don't forget to do ''When flag clicked '' Put ''Hide'' below it so the fruit won't be just floating. And put ''When i receive Message2'' Make it hide. put ''When i receive message 1'' Make it show.

Very nice! We actually took our original MMA clicker game and just released a modern take on it. Instead of mindless clicking for hours and hours, over months and even years, we use mini-games to increase the attributes of the fighter. It's just on iOS now but working on Android version at the moment. MMA Fight Club 2.
