That was the same poem Nipsey used on the 2nd episode (September 24th 1985) of Your Numbers Up. Nipsey was a wonderful good emcee as well as a good game player.
What a great thing Mark did when he dedicated his Alphabetics round to Eileen and even better when she came up to congratulate him when he won the $5,000.

What I like about Allen is that he didn't try to be funny and steal time from the game as Tom Kennedy did. Also as much as I like Bert Convey, he was the worst about stealing time from Super Password. I realize he is also gone now. I also like Tom Kennedy as a person. He was good on name that tune.
+Melody Madry That's because Password was Allen's format. it was HIS show he originated it and he knew how to work the game properly. His manner of concentrating on the excitement of the game fit the show. the same pretty much could be said with Dick Clark on Pyramid. Honestly as much as they did steal time from the games ( I hate distraction in competitions as much as anyone) I liked the fact that Kennedy and Convy, both respected MCs in their own right, made the shows their own and didn't try to be Allen. the shows were still fun and entertaining and exciting in their own right IMHO.
+Harry Engel That's because Name That Tune was Tom's "signature" show and it fit him like a glove. in Password he was drafted to the task of standing in Allen's giant shoes In this Tom and he did an admirable if not great job hosting ( the show won an Emmy in Kennedy's last season and having hosted the similar You Don't Say on NBC didn't hurt either) but as many have said Allen was THE MASTER of this show! his colliegiate and genial personality helped made the show the sucesss it had been and he will forever be MR PASSWORD!
Tom (and Bill Cullen during Allen's initial absence, then later, Bert Convy on "Super Password") were great hosts for the "Password" franchise. However, Allen Ludden was and will always be Mr. Password, with wife Betty White as Mrs. Password. Thank goodness she still made appearances both before and after Allen passed.
"Center Field" was a bad final clue, and since it was last it led to no solution to the puzzle. I think using "coffee" as a clue somewhere would've been better.
What a great guy ! Mark was so sweet to give Eileen $500.00 ! He will be blessed for such a wonderful gift !

I’m amazed how well Allen did the show, even though he was very ill during this time.
My guess he was on medication to control his symptoms so he could work.
He wasn't diagnosed until "early 1980" according to Wikipedia. I agree that he likely had symptoms at this point but was not yet diagnosed.

I watch this show foe one reason. Allen Ludden. Wonderful personality. Sad he passed so young.
