So wonderful together....and freni was a beautiful butterfly!.... Ludwig was a lovely Adalgisa too.......this film broke my heart hen I first saw it so long ago.....
Christa is a Goddess... quite close to Callas, that is why she was being Worshiped by the great conductors... her range was Unbelievable all the way from contralto low to high D6.. but above all the Musicianship

thats what Butterfly is supposed to do... break your Heart... Freni is Beautiful indeed but what Christa does here: 6:12 ... it is unbelievable
But isn't Freni who sings that part at 6:12? It sounds like her and also in the libretto those words are assigned to Butterfly
@@MarvPontkalleg Butterfly ( Freni) is singing at 6.12 of course.
Due sublime e divine interprete, Mirella Freni e Christa Ludwig. Un'edizione stupenda della Madame Buttetfly.
Such warmth... the essence of her great voice. It's a shame Puccini never really wrote any big mezzo parts.
6:12
So incredibly poignant... the stillness of the voice, the control. Ludwig was a phenomenon.
Freni's voice
Her pianissimo is to die for..... vocal beauty indeed!..

I haven't seen this in a long time. Long enough to have forgotten its Ludwig who performed this role. What a joy.
Well they recorded Norma together and their voices blended beautifully.....
