You are off to a very good start. If you are new to the hobby, I'd like to recommend, "How to Build Dioramas," by Sheperd Paine, originally published in 1980. This work is based on Mr. Paine's diorama leaflets included with Monogram model kits in the mid 1970's, along with more detailed instructions covering everything from making display bases to weathering and scratch building. These instructional leaflets literally kept me in the hobby when I started Junior High School in 1972. Keep building!!!

Thanks, I'll take a look, so I'll learn something to improve my models.

@@edoart3081 Not a problem. Back in the day, we used 3/4 inch plywood cut into squares, sanded and sealed with varnish or shellac to apply our groundwork (usually Celluclay) to for setting our scenes. A more modern method is derived from Wargaming Terrain using XPS Insulation foam for basing material - with the added bonus that it may be built-up and carved beforehand without adding too much weight. I'm sure you've already seen plenty of diorama tutorials on this site showing this. There are also books for wargamers about how to make a variety of detailed terrain that are just as useful to static display modelers.
      You've chosen a fine hobby!
