This is a video for the anniversary of my TH-cam channel.
I brought you the set of Dragon 6563 Fragile Alliance Axis Force (Balkans 1943).
Some of these miniatures will be included in a Diorama set in France in 1944. (Even though the miniatures in the set are set in the Balkans, the miniatures are also consistent with France at the time of the Allied landings in Normandy).
Three years ago I opened this channel and decided to dedicate it to my passion for Dioramas and miniatures.
In these three years I am growing slowly.
I intend to continue publishing my content and improving the painting and construction techniques for dioramas and miniatures.
I wish everyone a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

Camouflage painting improvement. Today I uploaded a video where I show the MiniArt miniatures that I painted a few months ago. I can see that your figure painting skills are improving in leaps and bounds! That said, your "before" pictures were very good, as well. Keep up the good work! As a matter of curiosity, have you been able to get ahold of those books I recommended by Shep Paine? His "Old-School" methods are still valid today. 3rd Like.
As always, thank you very much for the compliments and for commenting on my videos. In response to your question I managed to get the text of Shep Paine's book "Modeling Tanks and Military Vehicles". I'm currently building a tank that I will include with all the latest miniatures I painted (german tank riders set i and 2) and as soon as I finish building the tank I will experiment with Paine's painting, obviously helping myself with videos that show his technique in action, now that I have the airbrush, I can try his technique. The same goes for miniatures and houses. The only reason why I haven't painted any miniatures with Paine's technique yet is because I can't paint camouflage with his technique. With monochrome miniatures such as Soviet or American soldiers I could do it without problems, with German ones with camouflage I haven't been able to do it yet, so all the German miniatures I have painted I have painted with my technique. Then I look a lot at the dioramas made by other modelers and if I see a style that I particularly like I try to find the technique so I paint them in that way. It must also be added that it would be better to create a homogeneous diorama from the point of view of techniques, so it turns out to be more unique and "Belonging to the same atmosphere". I am currently building a house with XPS foam, I am filming myself while I build it, in some ways I did it my way, but in others I am watching videos with the techniques of Shep Paine, who mainly used diluted colors and powders. Thank you again for commenting and giving me advice, with time I will improve, hoping to enter together with other good modelers.
@@edoart3081 I understand that. The methods I grew up with - the late 20th Century "American / Belgian School" founded by Shep Paine, Bob Letterman, and Francois Verlinden - has been added-to by the 21st Century "Spanish School" pioneered by Miguel Jimenez. Whatever approach a modeler takes; the important thing is to enjoy yourself as you create your finished models and dioramas. Just keep doing that, and you'll be fine!
@@modelermark172 I will definitely continue. You learn a lot of things and you have fun painting, especially watching the experts helps you learn new techniques and new wits.
Good work!
Thank you very much! Although your miniatures are painted much better than mine.
@@edoart3081 thank you for the compliment too. I try too and it makes me humble that others are better than me. It’s good that you are posting video for our modelling community. Getting good at something takes time, patience, practice and encouragement. Looking forward for more from you. Yours faithfully, Gunberyl.
@@gunberyl3075 Thank you very much, little by little I will continue to publish videos and improve, then to show in more detail my technique for painting houses, miniature soldiers and vehicles. Thanks again for the compliments.
Impressive paint job, well done!
Thank you so much for the compliments!
This one looks nice.
Thanks!
Sorry mate, but you have to improve your painting skills a lot. Especially on the face and eyes. I think you have talent and with time you will improve. Until then, experiment a lot. There are a lot of videos here on TH-cam about figure painting, you might want to watch them and learn lots of simple techniques that make all the difference.
Thank you for your advice, I painted these miniatures using my own technical personal who formulated, I developed by seeing several miniatures and techniques used by various model makers. I admit that on these miniatures I made some mistakes (too Nuln Oil Shade not diluted and a very intense Drybrushing). Obviously I will try to improve both in terms of precision and technique. Even if I honestly like the result of these miniatures that I painted, both for the folds that they exalt, both for the shaded areas and for the effect of a faded and dirty camouflage.
@@edoart3081 As I wrote before. I think you have the talent, just like I had decades ago and I've evolved over time. Don't overdo it with the drybrush or the shadows. At this scale it is possible to see the concrete tone of the uniforms, otherwise you will exaggerate the effects. Continue. You gained another follower. :)
@@rammhobby205 Thanks for the compliments, for the tip and for joining :)
Amazing camo scale 1:1 to these figures! Good work!

I must say - your figure painting skills have advanced in leaps and bounds since I started watching videos of your work! Keep Building, and most importantly, keep having have fun! 4th Like
Thank you so much. Yes, absolutely, I will continue to build, I am painting a whole series of sets for a Normandy diorama with houses and other miniatures and vehicles, it will not be out soon because first another diorama will be out with all the German winter miniatures that I have shown in the other videos. Thanks for the like and the comment!
This is excellent, "Old-School" (as in, "School of Shep Paine") work! Back in the day, there were no kits of buildings available for dioramas, and all buildings had to be scratch built the way you did. Your "next-level" step should be to build one without using any aftermarket accessories. It can be done. In the 1960's - 1980's; we did it all the time. Again, Excellent Work! 4th Like.
Thank you so much! I am preparing a video where I will show how I build houses with XPS foam and plywood, also with windows and accessories built by me

Grande edo! continua così!
Oi ciao Mattia! Grazie mille!
You've got this down to both an art and a science, and the end result looks great! About the only thing I would have done different would be to paint the areas of bare skin first. Master Modeler Shep Paine always advised to, "Paint your figures as though you were dressing them," and skin would be the 'first' layer painted, before working "outwards" from underwear, to outer clothes, and then coats and jackets, and finally, equipment. Speaking of skin tones, I'm going to have to look into that Citidal FleshShade. (At my age, it's getting harder and harder to paint small facial details, and the results you achieve with this color looks like just what I need.) Thanks for sharing this! I'm looking forward to seeing these figures and tank in a future diorama! 9th Like.
Thanks for the advice, I usually paint the most important and complex parts first, but thanks for the advice, I will try to paint from the inside as you advised me. As for the Citadel FleshShade, I use it for the shaded parts of the skin, such as the eyes, the forehead if covered by a helmet/cap, the chin, and to underline some facial features (like a gaunt face for example), or even on the hands between the fingers (if the miniature is not wearing gloves at this moment), otherwise I use Citadel null oil. Thank you so much for always being there with advice and support!
Today I managed to publish only this video, I had painted these miniatures a few months ago. In this period I am very busy with my academic exams, as soon as I finish them, I will publish other videos in which I show how I paint the miniatures and how I build the houses. See you soon with new videos!
It would helpful if they showed us actually how to do the painting from scratch especially for beginners
I intend to create a series of videos in which I show how I paint miniatures, I have already published one on my channel, but I intend to make others, as soon as I have time I will publish other video tutorials
This is pretty cool! It would have been better if the main structure was injection molded instead of vacuum-formed. But the internal reinforcement seems to have done the trick. (That said, I would have used blocks of XPS foam instead of plasticine, as it would have added strength, but not that much weight.) Your painting and weathering really brings out the best in this piece. I hope you have plans to include this in a future diorama! 4th like.
Thanks for all the advice, I'm very happy that you like my videos. I'll try to look at this type of material to fill the structures. I currently built a typical French/German house with plywood. So I am experimenting to build houses from scratch, I will subsequently include them in different plastic. Thanks for the like!
@@edoart3081 Thin plywood was the go-to material for making diorama buildings back-in-the-day since a render of spackle was all that was needed to replicate a typical, European / Mediterranean Stucco finish. Shep Paine has detailed instructions for doing this in his 1980 book, "How to Build Dioramas." But after the turn of the century, many modelers began using XPS foam, embossed with wood or stone detail and sealed with Mod-Podge prior to painting to make buildings, after the method used by wargamers, to make terrain. There are plenty of videos on this site. I also have a book published by Games Workshop titled, "How to Make Wargames Terrain," that shows a lot of useful tips. I think this one is available online as a PDF, too. As always, Happy Modeling!
@@modelermark172 thanks for the advice. Yes, I have seen that XPS foam is more versatile than wood or other materials. For now I have experimented with plywood, an excellent result came out but I intend to try XPS foam, I think it is a little easier to use, also for making certain details that are a little difficult to do with plywood (like a piece of peeling plaster with exposed bricks underneath and cracks in the plaster). I was thinking of using plywood to create the roof and I create the walls with XPS foam
Mimetica fatta a occhio. Il figurino va fissato cu un supporto.. lavoro alla buona

I've seen building sets for dioramas cast in plaster, resin, XPS foam, and even injection molded. But I've never seen a building accessory set that was vacuformed, before. You did a great job assembling and painting this piece. I hope you'll include it in an upcoming diorama in a future video. As an aside, in the late 1970's - early 1980's, there were very few aftermarket buildings for sale. Verlinden changed that by the mid-1980's, but mostly we had to scratch build structures. The book by Shep Paine I told you about earlier even devotes an entire chapter to making buildings for dioramas, and even how to show them in ruins. These techniques are still valid, today. Thanks for sharing this with us! 3rd Like
A thousand thanks! Yes, however, every element or miniature that I show in video I will include in all my future dioramas. creating houses from scratch is a good option that I have considered, since I don't find many of them. Creating it myself will be very nice in terms of construction from scratch and imagination in construction, when I have experimented and got the hang of building the houses with the right materials and measurements, I will show how I build them, it is an excellent idea of content. Thank you for the tip!

Looks good! I can tell you put a lot of thought into this project, and that there will be many more to come. Another book I'd like to recommend, also by Sheperd Paine, is a follow-on to his 1980, "How to Build Dioramas," titled, "Modeling Tanks and Military Vehicles," published in 1982. This will show you how to better finish, weather, detail and accessorize your armor models. Another book by Mr. Paine published in 1993 is titled, "Building and Painting Scale Figures," that will provide many figure building, painting, and even posing, tips so you are not limited by the poses provided by the manufacturers. While you're at it, there are several videos on this site (and many more online) about Shep Paine that showcases his incredible work. Sadly, Mr. Paine passed away in 2015, but his contributions to the hobby of scale modeling cannot be overstated. Other famous model builders whose works inspires me are Francois Verlinden, Bob Letterman, and Lewis Pruneau. I had the honor of meeting these three men before they passed away, (and was fortunate enough to have been in the same IPMS club with Mr. Letterman and Mr. Pruneau.) But sadly, I never got to meet Sheperd Paine. Keep Building!
Thanks for these other suggestions, I'm planning another Diorama that maybe I'll publish around Christmas, so also to celebrate my first year on TH-cam, but since I've already finished many elements I won't be able to apply these techniques on books. but I will surely build other Dioramas, with particular techniques
@@edoart3081 Model building is a constant, learning experience. I've been building for about 57 years now, and I'm still learning new ideas and techniques. While it's always desirable to make each new project better than the previous one, the main goal is to relax and have fun. I'm looking forward to more projects you post in the near future. Another suggestion I can offer is for you to join your local chapter of the International Plastic Modelers Society (IPMS.) I joined the St. Louis, Missouri, USA, Gateway Chapter, around 1975. That's where I met Bob Letterman, Lewis Pruneau, and many, many other master modelers, who taught me a lot about the hobby.
Lewis Pruneau died?
@@MrPolicekarim Sadly, Mr. Pruneau passed away September 12, 2021 in St. Genevieve, Missouri. I remember being at a model show and contest in St. Louis in the late 1980's when his massive 1/32nd scale B-52 diorama first made its debut. There was so much to take in that unless it was pointed out to the viewer, few noticed that one of the outrigger landing gears on the wings had come off during transit. Around the same time, Mr. Pruneau brought a diorama of a German WW2 V-80 U-Boat in drydock to the regular IPMS Gateway meeting. There were lighting and sound effects - including a flashing welder's torch. To say Mr. Pruneau was a fascinating model builder would be a gross understatement.
@@modelermark172 I believe the U-Boat was an experimental 1. What happened to his and Letterman's models?
