      @@VotEtoPizdets Lol Marriott made a good business move by buying the hotel adjacent to the central square. They kind of have to keep up appearances for that very reason.
      In any case, most people stay at non-branded hotels right next to Republic Square because they’re managed better and are away from the noise. Although, the Double Tree by the Circus looks impressive from the outside.

    Usually big artists don’t go to countries like Armenia. Their definition of a world tour is:
    - Canada and USA
    - Western Europe
    - Japan + Four Tigers
    - Australia and New Zealand
    Good on 50 cent

    • @MrWolfSnack
      @MrWolfSnack 2 ปีที่แล้ว +38

      I think their agents and bookers study album sales and maybe Armenia is heat for 50 Cent right now so they put the tour there

    • @zeminoid
      @zeminoid 2 ปีที่แล้ว +66

      You forgot South Africa so the artist can say they went to all continents.

    • @Luflandebrigade31
      @Luflandebrigade31 2 ปีที่แล้ว +12

      Well if you go for western artists the whole setup is quite expensive. They need to get the money back for it and that is by ticket prices where it would be hard to get the stadium full. For example I went to a Rammstein concert in Germany and the regular ticket was 110€ (Vip and other was around 200-250€). They sold around 50k tickets and the whole area was filled with merchandise and food stalls. I would guess it was around 20 Millionen € turnover on one evening and they did a second concert the next day in the same location. Guessing by their Tour schedule they are moving around 2 or 3 similar stages that need almost a week to set up.
      Another example: My sister works on and off in the event business and she said that Rammstein has around 40 trucks for the equipment. That means when they go on a world tour there is like 500 Million €/$ turnover at least. If you put on a show like that and you know your math you have to do it in a manner where you get a return on your investment.

    I was born in Yerevan and lived there for 11 years before moving.
    It desperately needs to stop living in Russia's shadows and modernize, I really do hope it becomes more like Georgia now that some businesses are moving there.
    Edit: There are a few things I'd like to add, as I believe I've been a little unfair to my homeland. The problems in Armenia are similar to the problems in most post-soviet countries without resource-backed economies. What I meant my by comment was that since I last visited in 2018, I have not seen much progress and the problems that were there were exacerbated. Granted, this was a very difficult period for a lot of countries from 2019 onward. I'll refrain from speaking about Artsakh and simply say that as it stands, Armenia is not in a good shape.
    As for living outside of Russia's shadow, it is another complicated issue, what with Armenia being sandwiched between two less than friendly nations. When I said Modernize, I did mean more cooperation with the EU, or a wider knowledge of the Eastern Partnership program. I doubt that many of my countrymen will say that things are 'good' in the country, but complaining or closing one's eyes will not solve anything.
    I truly do wish the best for Armenia, as I quite like my homeland.
    P.S: I'm interested in hearing what solutions Armenian people can offer, so feel free to reply.

Yerevan is a magical city where Lamborghini is trapped in the paralysing traffic with everybody else coming all over the Caucasus for 50 cent concert. You thought the ending would be a disastrous disappointment for everyone. Yet, somehow everything ends up fine and even better.

    Armenia is such a dope country to visit! I was there last June and I was so sad to leave. They have unique architecture (the pink buildings), great food, really nice people. Yerevan is a beautiful and extremely underrated city. Gyumri is also an amazing Armenian city to visit. Even though I can't speak Armenian and Russian (well, i can read Cyrillic and just know some basic words/phrases) I was able to get around alright. The older generation there seems to know Russian and some of the younger generation knows English

    Reminds me when I was 21 yo, in 1972, big fan of Paul Butterfield Blues Band (saw many times both pre and post Woodstock versions). I was working in a book store and watching the New Yorker magazine every month for their next appearance in NYC. My friend and I finally got to hop a plane for $30 each Toronto to NYC and back, went straight to his concert, literally went with Paul after the show to see the end of BB King's set, and ended up having an early restaurant breakfast together before heading back to the airport to return to Toronto! Fun times. And no internet 😂! Only problem is I have nothing to show for such great memories. At least you have here! Enjoy it while you can, bro.
