Hello am from Dominican Republic is in the trapical island am so happy to see this soon i will be doing soaps i won't to congratulations on such beautiful work some people say that it's not good to do recipes from TH-cam because I don't come out well be i see same people doing it i know that i will need to take a course to be more professional and to have a certificate of safety but i can help my shelf to try and do it
Wow I absolutely enjoyed watching this video. Calming too. One day I hope I can muster up the courage and make soap until then I will carry on watching these lovely videos. Thankyou
Would you recommend using either Shea OR cocoa as I've been practicing with both together and the bars are a bit soft for me, even after curing. I assumed both would give a more luxurious bar but now I'm thinking maybe it should be an either or situation in my base recipe. Any thoughts gratefully received. Great video. Thank you
Shea and cocoa butter actually make for harder soap bars, not softer. So it is something else in your recipe that is making your soap soft. Remember that lye changes every oil and butter, so they are not the same in soap as they are before coming in contact with the lye.
I LOVVVVE Lavender but dang I hate how it looks like mouse poo when I put it on top of my soaps. LOL!!! Gorgeous soap! Purple is one of my most favorite colors. I'm still pretty new to soap making and have new 1.3 lb molds so I can start testing soaps that have things like goat's milk and/or honey in them. Much better than ruining an entire 6lb batch, right? LOL!
@@makeit2649 Yes I use alkanet but it's not the prettiest purple in the world and results can vary depending on the batch, how finely chopped and the length of infusion, but it's certainly a good option
There's alot of bubble holes, I would have banged it on the table too release the air bubbles. Makes for a more clean and esthetic soap without all the holes. Just an idea.
There isn't a set temperature and it would depend on the amount of butters etc in the recipe. Too low and they can begin to reset. Generally around 100F
No soap made from scratch uses lye to convert the oils and butters into soap. A glycerine soap base is a premade base and you cannot generally create the same looks and effects ut it is still a great product
For scent, I read adding cornstarch to fragrant oils or kaolin clay. Fragrance grabs onto the powder/ clay and makes a scent last longer. You can look on the internet about how much
@SoapSchoolUK I read up on fragrance. Adding cornstarch or a kaolin clay to essential oil will help scent grab and last longer. I can't remember the amount though. It isn't alot, otherwise, your soap won't lather as much and may dry your skin. I've tried pink clay in my rose scented essential oil. Not only is the scent amazing, it also gave the soap a beautiful nude pink color. Went well with the dried rose petals I added to the top.
Hi can you say why you use titanium dioxide in the recipe please...I have noticed this chemical is being increasingly used in NATURAL cosmetics but I understood it to be a carcinogen...what would the soap be like if titanium dioxide wasn’t used please?
Titanium dioxide is a white pigment. Without it the main body of the soap would be beige. It is certified as safe for skin use in most countries and in everything from cosmetics, food, drugs, toothpaste etc
From what I have read TD is one of the more benign pigments, my Dermatologist is a big fan, I use it for a sunscreen and have for most of my life. And it is a natural pigment without chemicals
Titanium dioxyde is in fact extremely dangerous for health. Take it from a med student who also has experienced first hand health issues experiences from titanium dioxyde : allergies, throat burning, lip swelling etc. And no, I'm not allergic to titanium dioxyde. It's just how the human body responds to such threat. Look it up. Please don't use this chemical.
@ SoapSchoolUk It's so crazy to me that people care about the color of the soap ! Why does it matter if it's beige ??? Is it for ✨ "The Aesthetic" ✨? That's so stupid. Let the soap be beige ! At least it's natural and organic !

@@makeit2649 I suspect I need to reduce my water somewhat but I'm being very careful and still practicing. Thank you for replying.
This is Beautiful! What temps for lye and oils please?
I generally work at around 100F mark for mine

شكرا. لك❤
HI I am a beginner. Love this soap. Is it the same to use very cold water?
Yes, that will work fine
How much soap will this make and size mold needed for it?
What is the superfat please in the recipe? Beautiful soap
Hi Mary it is over 8% SF and thanks for your support x
Thank you for this video. What is the spray at the end and what is it for?
Alcohol to prevent ashing on the surface
@@SoapSchoolUK what kind of alcohol?
Had someone done one of these recipes I would like to know how they turn out
It's a tried and tested recipe now used by many people. Give it a try :)
Hi , lovely video , thanks for sharing. Can you tell me which natural colour can be used to get a purply colour instead as I don't use micas ? Thanks
You could use Ultramarine purple or violet?
Alkanet infused in oil makes a natural purple color.
@@makeit2649 Yes I use alkanet but it's not the prettiest purple in the world and results can vary depending on the batch, how finely chopped and the length of infusion, but it's certainly a good option
@@makeit2649 Thank you ,I have ordered some today and will try it when it arrives in next few days :)
I really love you I have subscribe
Thank you, we appreciate it!
Where do you get the color powder from?
Hi
I need to understand on the lye solution. Quantity is 140g. Is it 140g sodium and 140g caustic OR both on scale must measure 140g
140g sodium hydroxide (lye)
Keep up the good work
Thanks, you too! I hope you get some fun soap making time soon

Hi, what is those colors. Where did you buy them from. Thank you
These are Mica powders from happy olive
How long did you stir your batter before you divided them and put the color?
Can you just use it without freezing it to solid?
Where did you use coconut oil
In the oils at the beginning of the recipe
Is a soap reach in leather ??
Wat r the best temps for lye & oils while mixing? Plz tell individually. Thank u
There isn't a set temperature and it would depend on the amount of butters etc in the recipe. Too low and they can begin to reset. Generally around 100F
Helloooo. I am interested by your material, in particular by your scale. Where did you buy it? I don't want a scale that works with batteries. Thank U
This is the MyWeigh Maestro scale which we purchased on Amazon. We also love the MyWeigh KD7000 scale
I have to wait 40 days to use?
What type of butter are they using??
Hi, The full recipe is just under the video in the description for you :)
how about preservatives? How long is the shelf life on these?
Regular soap does not need a preservative and lasts many years Mana
what size mold do I need?
Why do you make a lye with ice ?
Can i use clear glycerine soap as a base? Is it the same as lye solution?
No soap made from scratch uses lye to convert the oils and butters into soap. A glycerine soap base is a premade base and you cannot generally create the same looks and effects ut it is still a great product
Hi. What is the time of cure? 2, 4 months?
And what to do for don't lose the smell and the color?
For scent, I read adding cornstarch to fragrant oils or kaolin clay. Fragrance grabs onto the powder/ clay and makes a scent last longer. You can look on the internet about how much
Did the scent from the esenctial lavender oil last? In my soap it faded away...
It fades over time and I find it depends on the lavender

Where do you get that mold from
Purchased online from S Korea
Refined or unrefined shea butter?
Hi Amina, you can use either but I used refined
What size of mold do I need for the recipe?
It's a 1kg (2.2lb) oil recipe but you can always resize the recipe to fit your own mould

Hello Sarah😊
What is the ratio applied in the recipe?
I DIDNT SEE ANY LAVENDER OIL GO INTO THIS SOAP HOW IS IT LAVENDER SOAP WITH NO ACTUAL LAVENDER
It has lavender essential oil in it :)
It was added 4:30
that's not natural lavender just fake color powder.
That's mica powder, it's in everything these days and I'm here for it. The lavender is present in essential oil.
Beautiful!
Hello! Can we use lavender hydrosol instead of water?
You absolutely can :)
@@SoapSchoolUK Awesome, thank you! 😊
