    Last week I published a lesson "how to play the melody for Djangology." Knowing the melody of a song makes it so much easier to understand the chord structure, so check that one as well if you really want to learn this song. Have fun with it! :-)

      Gracie! I’m dealing with the publisher to get the rights for more gypsy jazz repertoire.I would like to be able to share some sheet music and TAB as well. As soon as everything is clear I will publish more repertoire tutorials.

    Is there any way you could upload a document with the chord shapes you're using? it's kind of hard to see and I don't know all the jazz chords off the top of my head plus I think you're using some different voicings. Thanks!

    Is part 3 available somewhere (I don't mind paying!)...would really like to know how to improvise on this. I am comfortable improvising in a folk and bluegrass context but would love to know how to construct musical ideas in the swing style...especially when it comes to the diminished chords. I find it intriguing, for example, how this style uses the 9th degree very effectively in melodies. Taking the first chord, it's basically like an A7 to my mind, and yet the melody lands heavily on a B (9th). Knowing these kinds of things will help me improvise better in this style.

      Thanks Patrick! Sorry but I havn't published the 3rd video in this serie. I've made a course Jazz Soloing Guide, that will be part of my upcoming Academy. Would love to guide you further in this topic!

      However, it sounds like you have some good knowledge about this that means you´re halfway there. Still it´s a different thing to do in theory and practice. Keep on going!

      @@MandolinSecrets No problem. I'm enjoying working some stuff out in the meantime. I've joined the wait list for the academy so look forward to it and gaining some expert advice :-)

    You remind me of my Grandpa. Although he was Finnish, spoke with heavy broge, it is simililar to Swedish. Comforting.

      Oh, and my Dad loved Django, played lot like him on strung instruments My Dad played played keys, accordian and drums too. Good musician that guy.

    Beautiful Magnus! Have always loved Django...Could you teach some David "Dawg" Grisman?

    • @MandolinSecrets
      @MandolinSecrets  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks Gibby! Yes it would be nice to cover some Dawg music. But I don't want to get in to copyright issues... I also know he teaches these tunes himself.

    could you do a lesson for the tune 'all of me'?
    I have been loving these videos!

    • @MandolinSecrets
      @MandolinSecrets  7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      +Bert Absolutely! "All of me" is actually part of my upcoming Essential Standards. It's a Jazz Mandolin Studies-course that I have ready quite soon. The tune will also be a part of the TH-cam lessons.
      Glad to hear you enjoying the videos! Is jazz your main genre?

    • @lowie14pictures
      @lowie14pictures 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I'm actually pretty new to jazz, so those essential standards will be useful (especially since you teach the chords and the melody). :)
      Mostly i've played bluegrass tunes and classical.
      I'm already looking forward to the next lesson!

      Great! Then you are exactly the kind of player I turn to in the first place. I want to make the jazz repertoire easy to access for mandolin players with more of a bluegrass or folk background. Why is that? Well I´m exactly like that my self and did find it quite hard to find this kind of a material when I decided to learn the jazz music myself. I learned the most jazz from different on line guitar courses. We keep in touch!

    Another great lesson, Magnus. I was wondering if you could do lessons on Minor Swing and perhaps Nuages?

    • @MandolinSecrets
      @MandolinSecrets  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks Mike! Yes, I will cover them both in future lessons. You can also check out the latest issue of Gypsy Jazz Secrets Magazine, there is a lesson I made of Minor Swing. It´s a lesson in a serie of 3 for Minor Swing. Cheers!

    Have you posted Part 3 (Improvisation)?

    • @MandolinSecrets
      @MandolinSecrets  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      No, I havn´t published it yet! I´m dealing with the publishing company to get the rights to a lot of the gypsy jazz repertoire I have notated. It´s a slow process and I don´t want to share anything of that at the moment. I hope you understand this!
      I hope I can solve this with them and I will let you know when I´m ready to share it!

    Très belle leçon, merci beaucoup.
    How would you play NOLA (Felix ARNDT) ?

    • @MandolinSecrets
      @MandolinSecrets  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks Christian! I must admit I didn´t know of this tune NOLA. But after a google search I found it and been listening to it. Really nice tune! :-) I guess it would be a nice octave mandolin/mandolin duet with the OM playing the piano left hand part. I played a lot of old accordion music(on mandolin) that reminds me of this style. Thanks for introducing me to this. Everyone, check this out!
