Jakarta actually also has an LRT line that starts operation before the MRT. Its rail system is a bit confusing, before it has commuter rail system that has launched in the 90s.

Metros don't have to be underground. The first line of what would become the NYC Subway was the 9th Avenue El, which opened in 1868. Like London, Chicago, and many other cities on the list, the line was not upgraded to "Metro" standards until later on. Of course, all of that is moot since the Ninth Avenue Line was demolished in 1940.

The Eglinton Crosstown is WAAAY behind schedule - even though they've already announced a western extension - and the Ontario Line (the long-anticipated Downtown Relief Line) is slated for around 2030.
We'll have 6 lines, Line 3 Ontario Line, Line 5 Eglinton and Line 6 Finch West :)
8:08 The Guadalajara Metro has 3 lines, Linea 3 opened in 2020, in 1989 Line 1 open which was light rail, in 1994 a second light rail line opened. The monterrey metro is also a light rail system since it has similar trains

No. There are two metro lines in Guadalajara. Line number 1 should be considered a premetro because it has many intersections with the road, so it cannot be considered a full-fledged metro line.

@Dr.Kraig_Ren I'm from Italy, unfortunately. Italy has quite some "legacy" systems that are almost a century old but in terms of overall length of the network, most metros are quite small here! Currently 5 Italian cities have a metro system but only Milan's metro is big enough. Rome, despite being the capital of Italy, has only three lines of metro (one of which is only half built, they are still building the other half, soo slow!) 🤦🏽♂️

Rail is not metro

That's Kow-Can line, and that isn't metro

China, Turkey and Iran mostly began their growth in 2000s and I am shocked that Poland did not have subway till 1995.

Actually New York City's first metro rails were overground railways in Manhattan. Their first underground railway didn't open until 1903 iirc.
There was that one railway in that guy's basement in 1868 though...
8:26 why are the 3 light rail lines in Monterrey counted but only 1 line in Guadalajara? I've been to both cities and the trains very much look the same in terms of capacity
