  • As a nature, travel and adventure photographer, John's assignments have taken him from the spectacular volcanic eruptions on Iceland to the teeming wildlife of East Africa. He has been to the Himalayas, the Pacific Islands, the American Deserts, the Galapagos Islands and the Andes, Namibia, Alaska, the European Alps and has photographed almost all the wild land locations in Britain. John has ventured to 38 countries in the last 28 years always returning with a story -- whether rafting down the Colorado River of the Grand Canyon or celebrating round a campfire with primitive Kalahari Bushmen, John's tales make the beauty of our planet shine.
In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)

Incredible stories. I feel the same when standing outside my house beside the deep forest, in the moonlight and watching maybe 1000s of lanter flies. In everyday life we are forgetting something very important and dear to us. Our oldest instincts and connection with the natural world.

Thanks for this. I teach a class (now online) on C. G. Jung's relationship to the natural world, and some of his remarks about that relationship were quite beautiful.

One will only find his civility in the wilderness,
Sheltered from the sophistication offered by civilisation.
By His blessings you shall know Him as the Divine, the Beneficent.

Wondrous talk. Many humans are not in touch with these profounder aspects of life, and instead lead a half dead existence.
