  • Our adventure starts with a visit to a Samburu Village.
The Samburu are semi nomadic pastoral people who still practice their traditional way of life.
Singing and dancing is one of their most important customs.
    NILE CROCODILES: AMBUSH MODE
Back on the banks of the Ewaso Ng'iro River we witness:
    1) A Nile Crocodile lying in ambush, it's intended prey an elephant calf.
    2) Three Nile Crocodiles in ambush mode, waiting for a herd of Impala to come down to the river to drink.
    SAMBURU LION PRIDE
We were so lucky to witness, close up, a large pride of Samburu lions chilling out and having fun.
The pride consists of related females with strong bonds. Such strong bonds are essential if the pride including the cubs, is to survive.
Play for cubs is so much more than just having fun, it helps cubs develop and grow.
By running, climbing and wrestling they develop their motor skills, physical strength and coordination.
Play also enriches their minds and helps cubs bond with one another.
SAMBURU ELEPHANTS: CLOSE UP AND PERSONAL.
What a privilege, to be so up close and personal to a herd of Samburu elephant.
Elephants are highly social and intelligent creatures. They display behaviors that we as humans would recognise as compassion, kindness and altruism.
The trunk of an elephant is amazingly dexterous. It's both gentle and strong, a trunk is capable of killing a lion or caressing a new born calf.
Elephants tusks are actually enlarged incisor teeth which first appear when elephants are two years old.
Tusks continue to grow throughout their lives.
    Enjoy the video.
