Ryse: Son of Rome is a 2013 action-adventure video game developed by Crytek and published by Microsoft Studios. Set in an alternate version of Ancient Rome, Ryse follows the life of the Roman centurion Marius Titus as he becomes one of the leaders in the Roman Legion. Gameplay revolves around Marius using his sword to strike enemies and shield to deflect attacks. Execution sequences are featured in the game, which are quick-time events that serve as an extension to combat. The game features a cooperative multiplayer mode, which tasks players to fight against waves of enemies in maps that are changing dynamically.

This was a launch title on the Xbox one (Nov 2013) , graphics still put modern games to shame and it has some of the best lip sync I've seen in any game to date
Not every game is about graphics
I still have my Xbox one since the first day of the release, including the Ryse game that we are seeing now.

Ryse son of Rome was an awesome story driven historical fictional game. Played it long time ago with my old cheap PC. Don't know why Crytek failed to make a sequel.
It needs an open world sequel. Or another setting. Maybe during the crusades or the age of Shogun

This game was so ahead of its time. There are new titles coming out today which do not look half as good as this, especially when it comes to choreography and animation quality and the overall atmosphere. Absolute masterpiece.
I use to love this game. They don’t need to change a thing. It’s still better than today’s games in both graphics and gameplay. There’s only one thing that it needs. A freaking sequel..

Great game, repetitive and simple combat, but with lots of animation flair. It wasn't designed to be a deep combat experience. It was designed to push the maximum output of the xbox one's graphics and animation with fluid animations and situational triggers within a compelling narrative. They achieved just that.
That's why Cryengine was once called the "Greatest game engine"
Needs a modern remake for sure, kill cams where awesome.
No it does not. the original still stands the test of time. This still looks better than many current titles.

I really enjoyed this game,since there weren't (still aren't) many games set in that time period. But this game was really short - I wish the entire single player campaign was more than 4 hrs long.

I miss playing my xbox games. I have ended up homeless but have managed to hold on to my xbox.

Game left me wanting more. It’s more of a movie experience than a game. The gameplay is repetitive but the cut scenes and kill animations are so good. As people have said it is gorgeous in 4K a testament to crytek and their engine. Many modern games look crap compared to this beautiful game.
I wish the single player was longer. Gladiator mode was interesting but also very repetitive.
I still want a sequel.

He probably called it that because or copyright issues or that Marius Titus is getting his revenge on his enemies and the enemies of Rome.
