Hi All - As announced in this video (bit.ly/3eduRGS) I’ve launched a Career Consulting / Life Chatting “Service” where I’m meeting people virtually for 30 minute sessions. I’m continuing to make videos and answering every question I can in the comments as always and live streaming every Wednesday at 10pm EST, but this is a good opportunity if you’re in need of individually catered advice. If you’re interested, please fill out this form forms.gle/LRdnvX7inZWYoBrj7 Looking forward to hearing from you!
Yeah I really like this video. I switched to banking from a B4 Audit background. A lot of people say it’s not really a “logical” transfer, but if you get your interview story straight, the switch was pretty easy for me AND the skills I gained were really relevant.
Hi! I have similar goals to you! Stroy of yours sounds really hopeful to me because I heard lots of desperate advice about the reality. I want to ask whether your story can be applicable to foreigners? and which position in an accounting firm would be more transferrable to the investment banking front position? Is it possible to go to the front position from the accounting background? I will wait for your reply! Thank you so much!
hi dalton, not sure if you can see this, but I'm really interested in learning more about how you did this and what kind of interview story you told. I am in the same situation and want to switch from B4 to IB. Please let me know if you see this!
I've heard you can lateral into IB from working within Big 4 Corporate Finance, and that this move can be made from Audit via internal transfer. I've also seen some go from Audit to Corporate Finance and then straight into MM PE, and it's actually a route I'm keen on taking (I'm about to join Audit as a school leaver at KPMG). Audit to Equity Research I've heard is also pretty common.
I don't know about the lawyer situation in the US but from what I've heard junior lawyers work a lot harder than most in front office banking jobs and get paid much less that's certainly my perception for the UK.
great video... i am considering switching into banking, initially was in big 4 since i went to a non target school in canada... but hoping to get my mba at a target school in the states so i have a better chance at working in the US
Hey Bryan, can you provide insight or a video on transferring from back office to front office (ex. Risk to Investment Banking) within an Investment Bank. I don't see any resources for that online, thanks
S&T is working with stocks on behalf of clients, AM is managing clients money (for growth or preserving) and then IB covers a lot, I work in M&A specifically - essentially these are all different ways of raising capital, differing in the ways they do it and the clients they serve I'd say hours and pay at the junior level probably goes IB, S&T and then AM
Hey I currently work at a mid size accounting (audit) firm in vancouver Canada, I’m getting my CPA, just started but I know at the end of my CPA I know I’ve always wanted to switch into Investment bank or PE at a boutique or small firm. Do you have any advice?
I'd recommend a MBA or high intensity networking with people at specific firms / while practicing your modeling skills - also depends on how many years of work experience you have

I think it probs depends on big law culture but I'm sure many junior lawyers can attest to the same in the states

Best of luck!
we want "Bryan Interviews a Lawyer or a Law Student"
It's coming!
CFA vs MBA?
Make a video on skills required to be in investment banking and other parts of the finance industry, e.g. be good at Excel
Thank you for making this video, Bryan!
Thanks!
Any chance you would be able to cover ageism and the likelihood of success of transitioning into banking at the age of like 50?
I made a video in age - I think transitioning at 50 would have to be at a MD level coming from a corporate c-suite or similar level positions
Congrats on 11K, now bring out the Gucci briefs.
They coming!!!
Great vid! You really listen to your subscribers! Can you make video on how international candidates can break into IB? Thanks!!
Thanks I covered this two videos before
As an accounting major I want to swtich to finance but what route would be beneficial
How hard do you think it is to transition from LevFin at a top tier bank to one of the M&A teams as an analyst?
Idk any personal examples but I don't see why not. Def a slightly different skillset though
Congrats for the 11k sub. I remember when you had only 500 sub.
thanks so much!

Good topic I'll look into it - idk many people from personal experience that's made the move outside of the MBA route
Can you make video going over all jobs/divisions/sectors within an investment bank? Great vids!!!
Great suggestion!
Happy new year Bryan!
Happy new year!
Thank you for this sick content
Thanks!
Hey man,
What is the difference between sales and trading , asset management and investment banking division?
Such as salary, bonuses and hours.
S&T is working with stocks on behalf of clients, AM is managing clients money (for growth or preserving) and then IB covers a lot, I work in M&A specifically - essentially these are all different ways of raising capital, differing in the ways they do it and the clients they serve

@@TheBryanJun Hi Bryan, do you think MBA>CFA for this transition? Is it simply because of the network/prestige of the school?
Is Jp morgan in the big 4?
in which investment bank are you currently working in
any tips on how to start a career within banking abroad
have a video on this!
What are the odds to leverage from big4 audit to IB?
I think it's very possible and seen in done before. MBA may help on top of that as well
So did you do it?
This guy doesn’t even work in IB and hasn’t.
:(
