Hey, so how is everyone coping with the fact that David Tennant came back as the 14th Doctor, 15 years later, reunited with his best friend Donna and was finally forced to confront all of the trauma he's been running away from this entire time? Because spending approximately 40 hours on an edit was my way of going about it!
There's something about a character who has a really complicated relationship with 'home' that is just so dear to me.
"WHY DOES IT HAVE TO BE ME?!" - because you are The Tennant.
As a Doctor Who fan and a Pheobe Bridgers stan, I loved this edit. It really captures the themes of the 14th's doctor's short but challenging journey. I feel like the 60th really challenged the character more than any 13th doctor story and this song really captures the intensity and sadness of his emotional state. Well done!
Thank you so much!! ❤️
This is beautiful. And it's make me cry. I love The Doctor and Donna friendship.
NOOOOOO YOU CANT USE THAT SONG IT’S TOO PAINFUL. A COMBINATION OF PHEOBE BRIDGERS AND DAVID TENNANT WOULD RIP THE SPACE TIME CONTINUUM
I'm sorry but David Tennant needed to pay for my therapy bill I had to do this 😓
This is such a masterpiece of an edit i keep coming back to it
Thank you so much, that means a lot to hear 💛
This was amazing. I love Tennant and Tate together.
I have never watched the show. But this made me curious, I might watch it.
But there is something extremely comforting about a post of an editor I used to look up to when I was a lot younger, and knowing you are still doing allright, at least I hope.
It's sad you have removed most of your edits, because they were so good, I wish I could watch them again for the sake of nostalgia haha.
Anyway, again lowkey wanna watch the show, well done creating this video, it was like a movie trailer
Oh gosh, thank you so much!! This is the highest form of flattery, I would've never thought my channel would be remembered after such a long time, but it fills my heart with so much warmth and gratitude. I thought I was done with editing entirely but these 60th anniversary special episodes came and inspiration struck all over again haha, I felt the old joy of editing again!
All the edits still live on this channel, they're simply unlisted. I could always send the links over, through an e-mail, for example, if you ever want that trip down memory lane :)
I'm currently rewatching Doctor Who after these episodes revived my interest and I highly recommend it. The Doctor, despite being an alien, is an incredibly human character. The episodes have some of the best cases of character-study I've ever seen and it's capable of exploring human psychology in more depth than most other media.
Thank you again, kind friend. I'm glad that we're both around after all these years. Let's keep on kicking and chasing our dreams!! 💜✨
pls do, but start with the ninth doctor and then when you are done with the new series then watch the old series cause they are bassicly different shows
I highly recommend Doctor Who, but it may take you a while to get to the episodes they are showing in this video. Even if you only watch Modern who. 😅
It is so worth it though.
You know what I just found ironic, when the ninth doctor regenerates he says "Before I go", and the Tenth Doctor says "I dont wanna go."
2:28 this part onwards with the music is so perfect i love it
Amazing edit ❤
My headcanon is that Donna absolutely knows every single thing that happened to The Doctor.
Shes spearing him the pain.
Yeah, I belive that as well, because the way she answered.
It's a valid headcanon! Donna would never admit if she knew everything, because that would 1) spare the Doctor the effort needed to open up about his feelings, and she'd never let him off that easy; 2) it means that the Doctor was forced to open up and didn't actually do it himself, which isn't necessarily great. I bet she's giving him weekly therapy sessions now that he lives with her god bless Donna.
It’s established that Time Lords basically have extra/enhanced senses so she probably lost a lot of the information that humans can’t process beyond very vague recollections. He also seems to have a more reliable memory.
I bet she remembers the emotions , important faces and some “major plot points” though even if it’s a little fuzzy.
How do you interpret his reaction when not!Donna knew though? Because while there is pain at first, at the end I see only relief.
My headcanon is that he really, REALLY wants to talk about it, and it would be less painful to talk, but he chooses not to. Not because of pain of sharing, but something else. Maybe fear of judgement, maybe fear of them not treating it seriously, maybe most likely fear of all his trauma being a burden to her. That usually is why people don't share trauma irl as well. But sharing it just by itself? The opposite of painful. If Donna knew already, it would be a relief.
If Donna knew that, no way she'd keep secret that she remembered the details. Donna knows he needs AND wants to talk, but doesn't know about what so she keeps needling him. If she knew the details she would reasssured him the moment she recognized how much he was hurting, because she'd known that's what he needed and wanted.
Not!Donna knew, and took horrible advantage of that to lure him in. For me, it didn't confront him to cause him pain, like your headcanon might suggest, it gave him exactly what he wanted: someone who already knew the details and said what he needed to hear.
And... in the end 14 did get someone who already knew the details. 15 knew, and told him what he needed.
What a great song for a great tribute
