Utterly brilliant. Two highly skilled and experienced ex-GP technicians working their magic on a timeless classic of motorcycle racing history. Thank you. Just wonderful.
Dear Sirs. I wish to personally thank and congratulate you for the magnificent restoration of Barry's bike. Your dedication and absolute knowledge show up immediately in the video. Once more, thank you, Sirs.
Great job gents. Barry spent his later years hear in Australia on the Gold Coast and became a commentator in various motor sports. What a character he was on and off the track.
I hope you two are passing on your knowledge to younger trainees. Don't take this the wrong way but people have a limited lifetime. These machines are part of motoring history and will be around a long time after all of us are gone. Two strokes are a different ball game especially when it comes to performance of this level. Keep up the good work !!
Beautiful bike . I love old 2 strokes . I have two , a Kawasaki KR1 and a Honda NSR . Barry restored his ex Stuart Graham 125 Suzuki when he lived in Queensland . Very cute bike . It has an aluminium tube frame , made in the 1960's !
I saw Barry win the German Grand Prix in May 1977 at the Hockenheimring, don't know if it was that bike Berry was riding but it was incredible, I was 13 and blown away. One year later I got my first and by far not least Suzuki, a TS 50 ER. Both days I will never ever forget :)))
I'd just like to say a massive well done to whoever shot this series of videos, beautifully shot and the colour grade and edit work perfectly with the subject, absolutely stunning. A pleasure to watch and an inspiration for my own channel.
My father had a pic of this bike on the garage wall. I would like to have seen a bit more about how they sorted the magnesium corrosion and may be some video of it been ridden. The smell of a two stroke reminds me of helping my father when I was a kid. This was his era. He has left this world, I'm a bit sad now!
Unbelievable work! Really amazing that this (to me) "dramatically bad looking" magnesium-crankcase could be repaired by welding! Surely a very experienced welder is necessary, but surely all people who are involved in such a project are on your (utmost high) level.
Masters of your craft i loved the emgine start... If not first time, a few more itll go cause i know everythings correct. And all with clean hands amazing. Masters for sure just like the rider 10/10
Get Jenny Roberts to take it for a legendary spin ! Give it the honour it deserves .rip Barry till the reserection ! You inspired me to race you were a true piece of Britain .
These boys are awesome! would have loved to have seen more of this build, starting that back up after all these years must have a special moment for them. It's a shame all this will be lost given the idiots in power atm😢
Love how you don't use hose clips, i use this lockwire technique on historic race cars too. Wanted to see what you did about that crankcase though! It does sounds the bollox!! Who gets to ride it?! Lucky sod....
Legend has it said that if you listen on clear night in Mallory during July you can hear a bike start up and scream around the track do one lap then disappear as quickly as it came
Did you know that Barry Sheene was basically an honourary Australian as the Australian motoring public became endeared with him through his motorsports commentary in later years?
Oh My, super job gents...I'd love to ride that scooter (a recently retired Engineer and former two class AMA Expert license holder who raced a TZ-250 B at Daytona in '75.
Not sure.. but think Sammy Miller had one in his museum.. & also sat on kenny Roberts or Barry bike down Portsmouth guildhall in the late 70's indoor bike show..
Lightness as clutches in an oil bath need stronger springs and more plates so are heavier. Light clutches have less inertial mass so gear shifts are crisper and quicker. Easier to burn clutch plates so are not suitable for road bikes as they have different operating requirements..
That bike with its history, is almost a holy relic!
Utterly brilliant. Two highly skilled and experienced ex-GP technicians working their magic on a timeless classic of motorcycle racing history. Thank you. Just wonderful.
Absolute gentlemen working on a legendary motorcycle. What's more do you need eh!
Thank you for this.
the garden shed!
I,m so glad these men have restored this bike, thanks.
Dear Sirs. I wish to personally thank and congratulate you for the magnificent restoration of Barry's bike. Your dedication and absolute knowledge show up immediately in the video. Once more, thank you, Sirs.
I bet Barry was looking down and loving that
Jane Mander gosh i hope so!...im sure he would get a chuckle out of this 👏🏻😌🇬🇧
Great job gents. Barry spent his later years hear in Australia on the Gold Coast and became a commentator in various motor sports. What a character he was on and off the track.
This is so awesome and worthy of its own full documentary. What an honour for these engineers 👏
Just love watching pro's at work on such an iconic machine. Couldn't help wishing they could come on over and help me restore my Dad's 78 RD 400 E !
Incredible work. Proud that we have skilled people to do this.
Personally I'd have liked to see the crank cases being repaired.
Beautiful bike, wonderful to see and hear it running again. What a great job well done.
This would have made a wonderful feature length documentary, such a shame it's been edited down to just 10 minutes.
Completely agree
Great job guys first class work two stroke lives on
I swear I could smell that two stroke exhaust threw my iPad speakers
Great video brought back so many memories of the great man himself
Thank you.
Absolute respect to these two gentleman bringing this iconic bike back to life👍
Can't beat the sound of a tuned 2 stroke .... They even smell better than 4 strokes ! 👍🏼
Looks great and sounds great only thing missing is the great
Barry sheens .

Got to be impressed with the nonchalance of these master mechanics when it fires up. Like yeah we expected that, no biggie.
Wonderful to see and a complete pleasure to watch. Look forward to seeing it out there!
Wow 4 independent 125cc engines in formation! Way Cool...
Awww Barry,s bike, brings many memories. R.I.P. Bazza
What a stellar project to be a part of. Outside of the unavoidable frustrations that come with wrenching, it's such a meditative process.
Remember touching that bike at Mallory park 1976, as a 10 year old boy full of excitement.
I saw Barry win the German Grand Prix in May 1977 at the Hockenheimring, don't know if it was that bike Berry was riding but it was incredible, I was 13 and blown away. One year later I got my first and by far not least Suzuki, a TS 50 ER. Both days I will never ever forget :)))
that was me and my brother too!...chasing around the padddocks, getting autographs and stickers, what a childhood! 😌👏🏻🇬🇧🏁
What a fantastic restoration!
emotional stuff, beautiful
I'd just like to say a massive well done to whoever shot this series of videos, beautifully shot and the colour grade and edit work perfectly with the subject, absolutely stunning. A pleasure to watch and an inspiration for my own channel.
Absolutely bloody wonderful stuff guys, beautiful work!
I remember watching him riding this and other bikes as of course do many others, - partly why I like motorbikes. It's a beautiful thing.
My father had a pic of this bike on the garage wall. I would like to have seen a bit more about how they sorted the magnesium corrosion and may be some video of it been ridden. The nicest looking bikes ever built!
Wonderful bike and worth all the attention of some skilled hands.
Love to see stuff like this.
I could watch this pair all day .😂 the knowledge they must have.
It would be great to work and learn from these super experienced mechanics.
Masters of your craft i loved the emgine start... If not first time, a few more itll go cause i know everythings correct. And all with clean hands amazing. Masters for sure just like the rider 10/10
Absolutely fantastic great job chaps .
Blokes in a shed. Unbeatable👌👍🇬🇧

Absolutely outstanding
Get Jenny Roberts to take it for a legendary spin ! Give it the honour it deserves .rip Barry till the reserection ! You inspired me to race you were a true piece of Britain .
sweet..you could do a full docu on the engine rebuild alone !!
Fantastic job well done boys
These boys are awesome! would have loved to have seen more of this build, starting that back up after all these years must have a special moment for them. It's a shame all this will be lost given the idiots in power atm😢
True Artists At Work!
I'd have liked to have seen more on the repairs to the magnesium crankcases and the wheel inspection. Nice to hear it running again.
I have built many two stroke race bikes 70's 80's 90's , that sound nearly gave me an orgasm !
Next mission! Isle of Man Classic TT with Graeme Crosby would be an excellent mission.
Thanks guys. Great work.
well done lads

what four knob heads gave this a thumbs down???????
I know, what you mean. What's not to like?
Kenny Roberts fans
@@HeavyMetalGamer45 My thought exactly! Or some guy who's girl Barry shagged.
@@joshuamervis 😂😂😂😂😂😂 she's probably still got a limp today..😂😂

great job.nice to know the factory never destroyed them.(as is the case with some F1 cars!)
Impressive job, great lovely bike ! A bike with a soul, not like nowadays bikes. Where can i found some other footage of this bike ?
Google, TH-cam. Use your keyboard.
My first Bike was a RG 500 in 1986 .Unbelivebel Bike in that Time like a Moto GP Replica now .
Really Superb to see, do you do apprentice schemes,I've got pretty good broom skills not bad on the T makeing.
Oh My, super job gents...I'd love to ride that scooter (a recently retired Engineer and former two class AMA Expert license holder who raced a TZ-250 B at Daytona in '75.
Superb
Great bike to own and ride (1989) RG500 Pepsi-Suzuki "Kevin Schwantz" GP Race Replica
What a fearsome machine... you had to have a big set to throw your leg over that monster and crack the throttle
Con esto estaba bien el mundo
3:03 that beautiful Braaaap Braaaap Braaaap Braaaap.!!
wonderful job - but you never told us 'its next mission'.
What color gold / powder coat finish used on the wheels?
Is this a rotary valve machine .?
Yes...like Roberts bike
Not sure.. but think Sammy Miller had one in his museum.. & also sat on kenny Roberts or Barry bike down Portsmouth guildhall in the late 70's indoor bike show..
NICE
Why did these bikes have dry clutches? Cooling? Just wondering.
Lightness as clutches in an oil bath need stronger springs and more plates so are heavier. Light clutches have less inertial mass so gear shifts are crisper and quicker. Easier to burn clutch plates so are not suitable for road bikes as they have different operating requirements..
What year was it when at Silverstone that Barry's chance of winning the 500cc championship were dashed by a blown head gasket ? Was it 75 or 76 ?
1975. I found it on a french channel, where they talk in details about the continental circus from the 70's to the 90's.
sir...no air filter boxes for this bike??
Racing machines in these years do not feature something like an airbox
