  • I replaced my failing obsolete RV Awning Motor it with a similar Dometic motor. It took longer than expected, but that was my fault. Here's how it went.

My RV awning is an AE Weather Pro Awning. The replacement motor I used is a Dometic 9100 Awning Motor that I purchased on Amazon (amzn.to/3NIW5qw)

Not to “beat a dead horse”, but I submit that including mistakes makes for a far better video. For me, it makes it more “real world” and I can relate to the work being done. I’d have done the very same thing! But with more expletives!! Hah! 😅😂

Thanks for this video. I also have a 17 year old Motorhome with a Weather pro awning with motor problems. I thought I was going to have to replace the whole awning. After seeing this video I just ordered a Dometic 9100 motor. Thanks again.

Thank you so much for this video. I was worried about the torsion on the awning but it appears it does not matter. I leave all of my mistakes in my videos as well. Shows the DIY people we all make mistakes. Great video!😊

I used to be an RV tech in the 70's up thru the late 80's. I enjoy watching your DIY repairs to catch up on the new tech on RV's we didn't have back then. It seemed you were surprised by the Scotchlok quick connect electric splices when you disassembled your old motor. Those things are notorious for losing connection , especially when exposed to the weather. I made good "mad money" on the side from diagnosing electrical issues on RV's and tow vehicles. 9 times out of 10, those quick connects were at fault. Good stuff to remember.

This will be in my very near future as well since we have a 2005 Itasca Sunrise 33V. Same basic coach and you have. Putting this video in my "saved" folder. Thanks again.

Your old awning motor was 20 years old? That's great. On many items these days (not just RV components), you're lucky to get a couple of years out of it after the warranty expires. May your new one outlast the older one!

Good job!!!!! I noticed when you opened it you had a lot of moisture in it I know you being who you are you left it open so the fabric could dry out. Lol just saying. Have a great time RVing and love watching your videos they are very informative and you don't put me to sleep like some of the other ones.

A good and useful instructor Brian. This video will right now be very imortant to watch righ now. During this weeken my awning was hit by a gust of wind. The shaft or pin from the end of the motor was twisted and bend to the stud. . so the arm of the awning dont hit the rail on the wall properly. Can see if somthing can be done with the old motor. Have got a motor from another awning I can try, if this can be used. Thanks Brian!
