This is necessary if you are a full time RVer like we are that often stays at remote mountain and desert locations with poor cell reception. I have their small indoor dual band antenna that practically doubles the internet connection speeds in areas with poor signals. I highly recommend it. There are even reconditioned ones available online for a good price if you are having trouble affording a brand new one.

Having a separate device will be more efficient because technically your phone will always pull from it’s built in Hotspot, slowing it down and using way more data.
