Therefore, their minds are conditioned to question everything this world has to offer including “THY POWER THROUGHOUT THE UNIVERSE DISPLAYED.” They have accepted the heavy burden of dealing with the troubles of this life and seek to know another way, YOU THE GREAT COMFORTER TO ALL who did receive YOU as their personal SAVIOR. Still, YOU have shown them NEW MERCY every day with each thought they make and each breath they take.

God excist i feel him .. born but never knew my parents grew up by different family's never knew real love youth was troubled been jailed been homeless at 18.but at 26 i met few people who reach out theire hands to me..and now to get story short 43 i am married have a job 2 beautiful kids God has saved me oh yes he is here

God bless you... I know Jesus is Real. I nearly died on several occasions as recently as 2 years ago when I was severely injured in car accident when a drunk driver t-boned us. But God has a Purpose & Plan for me... He's not done with me yet... By God's Grace, I will be 43 in August. I'm so in love with Jesus. He's kept me through the toughest chapters of my life including burying 1 of my daughters & my Dad. What the devil meant for evil, God has truly worked it out for my good...

From Bangalore, South India - I have no words to express, I am always awe struck listening to the awesome songs GVB group sings. Most of the time I have tears of joy and happiness. I must meet atleast once in my life any one of the group members or maybe the group themselves. My son is in Ohio, we had wanted to come in 2021, but my husband was diagnosed with cancer and passed away within 5 months. It was devastating for the family, by then the pandemic was in full force. I am still having hopes, I will come.snd I know my son and my daughter in law will fulfill my one and only bucket list. My son has now got a beautiful daughter born on Christmas day of 2022. Pls do pray for me and my family all you Holy people, consisting of my son's, who are software engineers and the younger of them is in France, and my aged mom in law. I am unable to leave her and come as she is immobile. I am 68 and God wilingl shd be able to make my dream come true. Alleluia Praise our awesome wonder working God most high. 🙏

I wrote The Old Rugged Cross Made The Difference in August of 1972. The song was written in Flemish and translated into English by my mother. My parents were Hippies trying to reintegrate back into society. The last verse was comparing the funeral of Samuel Greenwald (who was a great-uncle) to the funeral of Mae Bolaski who was my mother's maternal grandmother. Grandma Mae was raised in the RLDS church and later became Seventh Day Adventist.

I remember long road trips with hour long albums, and short shopping trips with singles and CDs, we always had sermons in the car it was just beautiful. Guy was half of the CDs and boi oh boi how we praise and worshiped in the car, honestly one of the best singers.

This is an amazing song of hope. I think Guy Penrod is a true man of God. He gives so much of himself to his songs and one can see in his eyes that he loves the Lord with all his heart. I can tell that his prayer is that everyone who hears him sing will know the Lord personally.

Garrett--a CCM artist that sings well may not be a "mighty man of God." There's no way you can know that just be listening to good performance which is actually entertainment--he makes a living from this, so we cannot really judge his heart, only the fruit:

Since the 1970's this song has made a permanent impact on my spiritual life. It was rendered by singers at the Port Antonio SDA since then I enjoyed watching and listening the Gaithers thrilling my own family with this and many other songs.

The negative influences of this world are designed to make our heart sick through emotional & physical pain resulting in a given person turning to music as one source of comfort to the body. The painful realty of this existence gives rise to the birth of music in two forms, earthly & HEAVENLY. Earthly music speaks to the experiences of this world through the singer-song writer’s eyes. Oftentimes drug use (i.e. alcohol, smokes, marijuana, cocaine, opioids, benzos and propofol to name a few) is intertwined with the survival of an artist to deal with the pressure of performing in order to stay relevant in the music industry, and to serve as fuel for creativity. As a result, music celebrities develop a tendency to sin against their body, through excessive drug use, for not measuring up to or to satisfy the demands of their music. Any earthly joy they experience is darkened by the heavy burden of performing and the loss of privacy.
The end users of their music become fans because the lyrics are relatable and the sound of the singer’s voice & rhythm helps them cope with the pains of this reality. Unfortunately, this band aid approach is only a time out from the hurt and in the meantime we are fortifying its wall with painful memories waiting in line. Who can save us from wounds that are silent, wordless and cruel all the while tearing us apart inch by inch on the inside, which could radically accelerate the demise of the human body? I will use caps as emphasis to show the honest reverence for GOD'S SOVEREIGNTY when writing about HEAVENLY music in the paragraphs below.
That INVINCIBLE DIVINE be our HEAVENLY FATHER, WHO THROUGH HIS SON’S MISSION HAS INSPIRED believers to write songs that sing of HIS LIFE GIVING LOVE to deal with emotional & physical pain, economic instability, mortality and the emotional instability of others with the motive of winning over souls for HIS KINGDOM. The melody & theme of HEAVENLY music is hateful and intolerable to the devil, a spirit which causes us to be blinded of the effects of sin and is responsible for the woes of this world such as melancholy, anguish, tribulation and trial. These agitations of the soul create a heavy burden for the lost and could lead him or her to be hostile of songs that sing about GOD’S GLORY. This makes it clear that we cannot win the spiritual battle by our own strength. Moreover, on earth the devil has no equal.
GOD has provided us with the ONE WHO CAN AND WILL LIFT the heavy burden of sin's guilt from a given sinner's heart if he or she (through faith) would open their understanding to Psalms (starting with the focus on Psalms 51:1-10 KJV), and hymns/songs giving praise to HIM for the purpose of being persuaded, converted and healed by the HOLY SPIRIT from within by transforming your body/temple into a meeting place for you and the KING OF THE AGES to commune as friends through the born again experience (repentance manifesting itself in a changed life). It is only here that the fears of tomorrow will diminish, the blessed assurance is given that you are HIS and HE LIVES. Once the blessed assurance is known in prayer (through the confession of wanting salvation from one’s sinful nature, combine with admitting that JESUS CHRIST is LORD and believing in one’s heart that GOD raised HIM from the dead to deliver us from sin's guilt) the world can never take it away because the world didn’t give it to you.
I've listen to your music for some years and especially during harsh times these songs touch my heart even more - you are truly lead by God because every time I listen to these songs that you sing, the Holy Spirit comes over me and fills me with joy! I wrote The Old Rugged Cross Made the Difference in August of 1972. The song was originally written in Flemish and translated by my mother. The first and second verse were about life during the Hippie era. My parents were "Jesus People" trying to re-integrate into society at the time I wrote this song. I was 5 at the time of the writing of this song. The third verse was written about the funeral of Samuel Greenwald who was my father's great-uncle. There was no hope among his relatives at his memorial service. Contrast that with the funeral of my Grandma Mae who was a Christian and the family had hope.
The LORD died on the cross, so that we could be saved!!! Praise the LORD for dying on the old rugged cross for us!!! Please everyone thank the LORD every day for what he has done!!!
I am not saved yet, but I look forward to that day when the LORD calls upon me and I get saved!!!

I wrote The Old Rugged Cross ✝️ Made The Difference in 1972. My father was a heroin addict and he got Hepatitis. After he recovered my parents (who had been divorced) got married again to each other. Then my mother stopped drinking. So my life was much better when my parents had a brief Christian ✝️ conversion. The second verse is about the funeral of Samuel Greenwald who wrote The Great Gatsby. He was my father's uncle. His family had no hope at all when he died of alcohol poisoning. By contrast my Grandma Mae was a Christian ✝️ and her family had hope. At the age of 5 I clearly saw what a difference The Cross ✝️ of Jesus Christ could make!

Yes the Old Rugged Cross has made all the difference in my life---God only knows where I would be today if my parents had been Christians and raised me to love God and Jesus. Yes, I had year of wondering, but the Holy Spirit never let go of me. Praise God. I can only Thank Christ over and over and over for all eternity!!!!!!
