I love his explanation on energy flow/pressure/sensitivity. To me, that is also one of the things about FMA and similar arts that beats a lot of concepts out there. It's still not ideal. Neither a machete nor a knife is a weapon. They are tools that can be used as weapons, but they don't excel in that role. A pike is a weapon. A spear is a weapon. A poleaxe is a phenomenal weapon. So too is a war hammer. Swords are overrated, but sabers are the truth. Very good techniques at the beginning (hand as main target and not trying to block an attack with your unarmed hand) until you get stuff like around 6:42 where the guy on the right reaches out with his unarmed hand to block or parry the opponents hand and then tries to kick (good ways to "de-fang" yourself). There was no need for him to do that. He sacrificed his hand and then leg instead of using his own knife. Blocking/parrying/locking techniques should be saved for scenarios where the attacker happens to get in too close and you have no other choice but to try and deflect or lock their knife hand.
