“Don’t equate success with visibility”. That’s a great statement. It reminds me of The Wind in the Wheat by Reed Arvin.

Happy to hear Chris say that he is taking the influence part seriously. God is using Elevation in so many ways. Like it or not, that's the way it is. Their music is being sung in churches all over the world, in car radios, at church camp, etc. Definitely not something to be taken lightly. Keep your heart set on the Lord, Chris. God bless.

My make a wish is to be in the front row at Elivation and meet Chris, Pastor Steven. I get so much from the music. Being sick I need the music to go to when I am feeling sick. God uses music to help me. Would love to do a song night . How fun.

Staying adaptable is great!! Doing that while maintaining true biblical principles is tough at times.

    Thanks for the interview!
I remember the “copy and paste” days as well haha. I was so excited when SongSelect added the 2-column feature for pdf downloads. I was doing that manually before.
I love what Chris says about not chasing past successes and success should not be measured by visibility. It’s important to keep seeking what God’s speaking to us how it can minister to the church.

Iam from Kerala India .Iam a Catholic. I am 76 years old .in our childhood catechism was taught right from small age till 16 years . We were taught mainly the prayers, history of the church and heresies challenging the church.we did not know much about Bible and the teachings of Christ.but when we grew up there was a popular communist theatre group called KPAC theatres .they used to present dramas showing the evils of the society of those days .they we’re aiming to reform the society to socialism.their drama songs were very popular.and they were always quoting from the teachings of Christ .we were introduced to Christ‘S teachings though their songs.seeing their songs we used to refer the Bible and we found out Christ‘S teachings there .so through your songs you can easily teach the modern generation about Christ’s teachings.to raise voice against social evils,to love others ,to live peacefully and help others to live happily.

CCLI - I'm not sure a how-to on writing original songs and putting out worship albums is "advice for every worship leader." This feels like we are just re-affirming the worship leader celebrity addiction the American church seems to have right now. I wonder how you can bring content that connects the majority of worship leaders - instead of the top 1% who get to write original tunes and release albums.

You don't have to be a top 1% songwriter to write worship songs that glorify the Lord. Also, while some do have an issue with celebrity addiction, understand that if nobody wrote worship music, there would be no worship music. In fact, the BEST thing to combat worship leader celebrity addiction would be if MORE people wrote worship music. If people DON'T write worship music, it promotes the handful that do more.

@@Spladoinkal I understand what you're saying.. and what you're saying sounds like a great concept and idea. But, the reality is that worship music that gets popular is done so by design. Big money, big labels, big writers.. all having a connection with one another. Having original worship music, not from one of the top 10 worship artists, to get traction in our worship music culture today - is very difficult.
Again, i wish what you were saying was the reality.
My sentiment for my post and ask to CCLI, is asking what would be helpful, enriching, and empowering content that would support the common worship leader. I'm not sure writing original worship music is something that's on the majority of worship leader's minds for their church. Sure, writing songs can have a purposeful development for someone as a believer and worshiper - but I don't think that's what is purposefully helpful to the working class worship leader in America today.

Just curious why it is that contemporary Christian music is so cookie cutter unoriginal anymore? It's guys in Amish hats, skinny jeans (rolled up), leather boots, kind of the hipster look, lol and what is up with the weird twisting of words or should I say "woyeeed" lol, since when did everyone want to be Adele ? We already have an Adele, I don't know but the Ann Wilson things seems fake to me

Same reason there are trends in every genre of music. Also, think of it this way: It's much easier to be creative when there are constraints. When there is already a framework for songwriting, it's easier for one to take that framework and make it their own. When there's NO framework, there are VERY few that will be able to come up with ideas. God gives each of us a kingdom. Some people's kingdom is to create brand new genres of music. Other people's kingdoms however may be to work within those genres already created. As with any music, the "Look" tends to follow the music. I'm more joyful of the privilege of being able to enjoy worship in this way than discovering new ways to worship and the majority of the congregation will feel the same, some even OPPOSED to new music.

Why not rejoicing that Christian songs are blooming, young writers love God, so all genres of music can be covered by worship#christian#evangelisation songs ! Our youth need to listen to that instead of Satanic songs proning violence etc ... Concerning addiction, that's another problem : I pray that they have the faith that Jesus can free them from any of them 'cause EVERYTHING can become an addiction right?

NO!!!! Do NOT use Christian music to learn the teachings of Christ! You will get a false, distorted picture. Today's song writers do not know theology. Songs are so man centered. Please, just read the Bible to find out about Christ and His Gospel.
