What a beautiful song…. I am really feeling epic Pearl jam vibes but without knowing the lyrics I am lost.

Here I have found a good translation
In a dress made of light she came up to me
I know like it was today*
      I was so young
      Feeling awkward
But still I never regretted it

She shouted words into my face
      The tongue bristled with lust
It was only her language I didn’t understand
      I didn’t regret it

Oh no, there’s nothing at all**
      Oh no, I regret nothing**

      When I left her skin
      Spring bleeds in Paris***

      I didn’t know my body
Too shy to look at it
She showed it to me in the light
      I’ve never regretted it

The lips often sold but soft
      And touch them eternally
      When I left her mouth
      Then I began to freeze

She shouted words into my face
      The tongue bristled with lust
It was only her language I didn’t understand
      I don’t regret it

Oh no, there’s nothing at all**
      Oh no, I regret nothing**

      When I left her skin
      Spring bleeds in Paris

A whisper fell into my lap
And would lead a fine sound
Speaking a lot and saying nothing
      And it felt good

She shouted words into my face
      And took a deep bow
It was only her language I didn’t understand
      I don’t regret it

Oh no, there’s nothing at all**
      Oh no, I regret nothing**

      When I abandon her skin
      Spring bleeds in Paris
*This is the German version of the English phrase “I remember it like it was yesterday”.
**These lines are originally from the Edith Piaf song “Non, je ne regrette rien” which came out in the 1960s and was (and still is) hugely popular in France.
***Wordplay with the a bit similar sounds of blutet and blühte (flourished)

A spoiler up front as i don't you to get to disappointed however it is the album version. We are studio only when we do the album cycle. Live versions are for the specials only. Got to get our tease on somehow.

Beautiful song with a lovely nod to Edith Piaf. It's magical hearing the crowd song this in France. I studied French language for eight years and French literature for three ( Camus, Anouilh and Ionesco - not what you'd call run tickling stuff). We didn't have the option of studying German in my school but I did also study Latin for five years. All fun and games in my school! Ah well. I'm learning the German language now that I'm retired and with far too much time on my hands. Really helps at least with the basic understanding of Rammstein's lyrics.

Yep, despite butchering the Edith Piaf reference it was an absolute standout part of the song for me. Moments like that in music show such a higher level of craft for me. A beautiful song and in a fight with 2 others for my favourite from this album.
As for the language learning, congrats. I have often thought about doing some formal learning again outside of work. Personally I would probably lean back into history as I had loved this during my school years.

Such a beautiful song! How poetic a way to describe "my first time with a Parisian prostitute" ;-)
Hope you'll also tell your friend the backstory for Wiener Blut. It drastically changes the experience.

It is about a young man who loses his virginity to a prostitute in Paris.
