In 1982 I bought a new CB900F, and one of my riding buddies bought one of these Turbo`s. They were about the same, as far as speed goes. I ended up putting about 40K on the 900, and of all the motorcycles I`ve owned (50) or so, I always considered it to be the best. I had an 81 CX500 Custom, which I traded in on the 900. Honda should have never quit making this engine. I`m going to enjoy this series.
I always clean before working. It makes it much much easier to see what you’re doing. That a great bike and is in fantastic condition considering it’s 40 odd years old.
The wheels look great now! The CX turbo bikes have that retro future look in spades. I love the color scheme on this bike with the yellow and black trim. I love watching these on TH-cam, because I don’t think I’ve ever seen one in the wild, or at least not in the last 25-30 years.
That bike looks amazing for the year they look so cool can’t wait till it’s done they sound fantastic I’ve just got my self a ktm duke 390 and I’m 62 and I love it smiles per miles 100 easy ❤
I thought about using some time of metal polish. Was concern about the finish coming off the wheel. Seeing how its faded so much in the rear. I can do a test spot on the rear. Can't make it worse! Thanks for the heads up. Now to go shopping.
gotta have a clean bike! My 84 CB650SC's motor looked very similar to your CX500's...same faded paint...I hit it with S100 engine brightener and it magically looked all gloss black and new again! Granted, it's just a band aid...but it lasted quite a few months before starting to fade again. It sure beats repainting the motor!
Armor All will take away the oxidation in the black engine parts and make it look new. It lasts a fair amount of time after application too. Good luck.
I accidentally discovered that while cleaning this bike. Sprayed it with the tire foam, let it sit till all the foam dissipated. Then blew it off with the air compressor. Looked really good. Thanks for watching.
They are a lovely bike. I think you will enjoy riding this bike more than the GPZ. And Eric I'm happy for some Turbo bike work everyday if you don't mind😅
I've got a 6 cylinder Kawasaki ( future project ) has a electric fuel pump didn't work. I put carb clean in the inlet and outlet to clean things out.( repeatedly ) reversed polarity back and forth and got the fuel pump to work.
I love watching your channel. What happened to the little honda junk yard scooters. I need to figure out how to send some pictures of my bikes. 83 GPZ is 1...
17:23 Whats on your upper lip in this shot? It kind of looks like you were sucking on the exhaust end of a muffler. : ) It's funny the places grease and grime will end up when you're working in the garage. That's a cool bike. Normally the 80's stuff doesn't do it for me (with all the plastics and the squares) but I'm starting to appreciate those bikes more.
LOL. Was wondering of anyone would catch it. I blew into the tank to speed the draining. Did not realize it got on my face! I was just like you with regards, to these early eighties bikes. Have found an appreciation for them. Thanks for watching.
Definitely with you on the cleaning first routine 👍
Why work on a dirty motorcycle when you don’t have too!!!😂 Thanks for watching.
You find a lot issues as you clean.

I am looking forward to getting this guy running and riding. Fuel pump is on its way. Thanks for watching.
@@motorcyclerewind- not going to attempt a rebuild of the fuel pump?
I enjoy watching you knock the barnacles off. Amazing what a little TLC will do for a bike.
Glad you enjoy it! I have a feeling this one is going to turn out really good with few parts and lots of elbow grease. Thanks for watching.

Couldn't agree more! Everyday this bike gets better and better. It's like the GPZ experience all over again. Having a blast!

These wheels are awesome. This motorcycle has been so much fun. Can’t wait till the fuel pump arrives.
Yes!!!!!! Every day is Turbo day! Looking good!
Happy Turbo Day!!!
Tank and panels need to come off for a deep clean, protects them from damage too. Very stylish bike, nice project. GL👍🏻
That's step 3 of the cleaning process. Cleaning under that tank and seat is next. Thanks for watching.
Greetings from Dublin Ireland. There is no substitute for elbow grease.
I should order it by the barrel. May be a little effort but it is so rewarding. Thanks for watching
Jayzus, another Paddy watching 👍😁
Can't wait to see you driving her down the road.
Me too!!! This project has been so fun. Reminds a lot of the GPz last year.
I like this bike Eric, I'm guessing it's a keeper.
This one is going round have a place next to the GPz for a while. Thanks for watching.
Hi from Christchurch New Zealand I always spend the time to clean the bike I am working on Cheers Glenn.
It is very rewarding. Thanks for watching from Christchurch.

It is cleaning up so good. Hoping I can bring the paint around.
Mothers wheel or metal polish will take more off those wheels. Looking great.

I am going to look for some of that. Thanks for the tip and thanks for watching.

This one is in the Ultrasonic cleaner. Doesn’t hurt to try to free it up. I also ordered a new one. Thanks for watching.
