    I love them, do need a subwoofer. But in some rooms (depends on placements) it is incredible in the bass. Installed these in someones new living room (they moved) and he said they sounded way better. Pretty deep bass for the size as well

      They’re such lovely looking units and yeah I was surprised how nice they sound given the rep and considering their tiny footprint in a room. They deal with anything above 100Hz pretty nicely and with a sub I bet they’d sound excellent!
      A beolab 2 may be a bit too much for them but a beolab 11 would work... neither of them are cheap though :(. So that brings me back around to big wood boxes 😅

      i have 5 pairs of 6000 at the moment and for the money i think they are unbeatable, and if they are in very good condition and placed well in the room the bass is fine, its not a boomy bass but they do go deep enough at low to medium sound levels, and as you say if its not to your taste at a beolab 2 and that will blow your socks off

    Completely agree with your review. Bought a set of 4 a few years back for 500 GBP from Ebay and use 2 for the TV and 2 for my PC both in a wall mount configuration. Connected from the TV over the headphone socket to the line in of the 6000. For the PC I've connected them to a Yamaha receiver because I also have a pair of B&W 601 as rear speakers. The sound is amazing when watching either on the TV or on the PC where I have a 43 inch main center monitor and two 24 inch screens on either side in an upright position. Feels a bit like NASA control center. But we boys need our toys ;-).
    One question that I have, I'm redoing my office and have a bit of a height issue with the wall mounted 6000. Therefore, I thought to lower the bottom 20cm of the speaker below the desk and do a cut out in my desk. I don't think that should effect the sound quality at all - actually improve it because they are better positioned to my ears as I am sitting in front of them in an office chair and were previously almost touching the desk at the bottom, so relatively high. Hope this makes sense. Do you agree?

      @chrisbaker121924  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks :)…
      I agree I don’t think it should make much difference to the sound if the bottom portion is below the desk so long as the drivers aren’t behind the desk of course 🤣….and so long as there’s air still around the bottom 1/3 as the amps need to radiate the heat.

      Hey, I was wondering which type of cable you're using to be able to use the speakers with the TV?

    • @horatio71
      @horatio71 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@crowncell2991 Hi, I bought high quality cables at Richer Sounds. Don't ask me what their name is but they were about 30GBP if I remember correctly. I found they make a difference. I need a better 3.5mm converter to chinch, which I am still looking for. Going the line-in route seems to require high quality connection and cables to avoid the type of slight feedback loop. If I could choose I would prefer to avoid the line-in route with these speakers. Hope this helps a bit.

    Adding mine to a Beolab 2 connected to a Beovision 11-55. Only cost £200 to add brand new drivers.

    Very nice video and good to know about the ba foam inside the Beolab 6000. I had a pair Beolab 6000 in my room but the sound is very low and no delivering deep bass.

    • @chrisbaker121924
      @chrisbaker121924  ปีที่แล้ว

      The bass delivery isn’t all that much on these. What’s your input source and what is the condition of the woofers? If you’ve never had them apart to clean out the foam I’d recommend doing that as well, especially if they are mk1s.

    • @KoseTrading

      @@chrisbaker121924 The drivers was service and also the bad foam inside was removed.

    • @chrisbaker121924
      @chrisbaker121924  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah you don’t want to remove it entirely. Will make them basically a speaker in a drainpipe. It needs something in there to replace it

      @@chrisbaker121924 Yes, you are correct. But going from Beolab 1 to Beolab 8000 and now to Beolab 6000 is a noter world. I thinking going back to Beolab 8000 again.

      IMO beolab 4000 sound superior to 6000s so that might also be something to look into if you’re after something smaller

    Hi. Having listened to a few BL6000 over the years I agree they are no good as the main speakers in a full blown hifi set up. The bass falls apart and is lost very easily in any reasonable sized room. However, as tv speakers or using them as pc speakers- they’re perfect for this as already amplified- or for a small office or bedroom they would be ideal. Have you tried a pair of BL4000’s? Arguably better sounding, especially bass and a very underrated speaker.

    • @chrisbaker121924
      @chrisbaker121924  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah I’ve not heard a pair of beolab 4000s but I have heard down the grape vine they are better... also heard 8000s and they’re better too. They’ve been described to me as cheap car door speakers in a tube before. 😅. I picked these up for next to nothing though so deffo worth a go.
      I keep looking for a set of 4000s to try. They’d arguably work better in the living room too because I have one of them built in brick 1970s TV fireplace arrangements.

    • @chrisbaker121924
      @chrisbaker121924  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Think they suffer from a similar foam inside the speaker degrading and goo all over the boards. 😬

    • @rogerdawe2684
      @rogerdawe2684 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@chrisbaker121924 I’ve had a pair of mk2 BL8000’s for over 6 yrs and they’re good. I would describe the sound as pleasant but not outstanding if I’m honest. I recently had chance to buy a job lot of 4000’s, 6000’s and 8000’s ( 1 pair each) near me for £800. They all look tatty and need attention but the 6000’s have been reconed apparently. I didn’t go for them as I know they all need money spent on them but they are still available and I’m tempted to put in a really low offer and see what happens. I don’t need any of them but I’m just curious. None of these will ever be a patch on your MS150’s😀

    • @chrisbaker121924
      @chrisbaker121924  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      If the numbers add up you can work through them and get them up to scratch :)! Worth it just for fun I think. The MS150s are amazing things. A shade on the warmer side compared to the newer stuff (think it’s the large dome tweeter that contributes to that)... and the subs! But I prefer that tbh!
      If you can find a pair of them, they’re the benchmark for B&O passives along side M100s. They sound somewhat similar to the Beolab 5. It’s just a very large system space wise. I find myself going into the room just to look at it though 😅

    A friend who had the speakers in storage gave them to me, one works and the other doesn't, the LED doesn't even turn red, I've changed the cable and that doesn't work either. do you know what it can be?

    • @chrisbaker121924
      @chrisbaker121924  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Going to be something wrong with the power supply at a guess… possibly a fuse or relay? The foam rots inside and covers all the boards in horrid sticky foam stuff and can cause all sorts of horrors.

      I would suggest that the speaker insulation foam has all disintegrated and is all over the amp causing some electrical faults.

    I just bought a pair, but I'm having trouble connecting them to my new TV (Samsung) - do you have any advice for how to connect the two?

    • @rogerdawe2684
      @rogerdawe2684 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi. Just noticed your question. 2 ways come to mind. 1 (very) expensive but much better, 1 a lot cheaper but maybe not good for audio. I’m presuming your Samsung has a digital out and a headphone socket on the back for these answers.
      First is to get a Beosound core which connects to the digital out from the tv, then you can connect your speakers via powerlink into that. It’s a very good unit but certainly not cheap. Second option is to use the headphone output straight into the ‘line in’ connection on your speakers. Probably easier and certainly cheaper, but won’t be as good audio wise. For both I recommend contacting Sounds Heavenly.com for further advice concerning cables and connections. The owner is called Steve and he is the most knowledgeable guy for all things B&O connectivity, and I can highly recommend him. Hope this helps.

      Sorry only just seen this :) might not be relevant now… if your Samsung has a digital out you can buy a digital out to phonos converter quite cheaply from that jungle website.
      Then couple of phono leads into the 6000s and you’re all set!
