Territory Stranding: always select storage is great advice... but pick one city were you want a refine, craft, trade.... and then pick the various tax savings over storage/gathering in that one city when possible. It will save you a ton of gold.
One thing to add to this part: I do think that Territory Bonus is a great bonus to pick. The more Territory Points you get, the more of the others you’ll get as well! But yeah, by far storage is the best and XP is the worst
Heavy is fine in open world and pvp if you enjoy it. Light melee is pretty tough to play in PvP. If you’re going to DPS in expeditions then you’ll want to switch to light though for the additional damage increase.
So I thought territory standing gives a percentage increase in how fast you earn territory standing? So even if you are max level, you probably haven't maxed out every territory, so wouldn't it still be useful even after level 65?
It can be. And you’re right. You won’t have territory standing maxed for any territory at level 65, and territory standing does take a good while to max. But once it’s maxed it’s done and you wouldn’t get any more benefit from that perk. Whereas something like increased gathering speed would be useful forever.

Also, I've played since launch w/5k+ hours and have never come close to maxing out any territory standing for a settlement. It really only applies if you are a mega crafter. For me the territory standing is helpful as I don't sit in one zone only. Maybe with the new FFA CK zone will change that.

I am using spear/GS with heavy armor, do you recommend using light armors?

Do you think console players will help populate legacy servers or do you think they will stick to standard servers?
I think most will stick with standard servers. I hope it helps some though because I would rather stay on my legacy server
