I go on an overnight hike in the Australian Wilderness Hike with amazing river views. I use my ultralight backpacking gear. Its pretty rainy but we still get to see and enjoy all nature has to offer.

I said you should be hosting a show on tv from the time you launched this channel. Rachel Vine and I worked our butts off, getting your hiking channel promoted and out to the world, to take you from 300 odd subscribers to 1000, in a couple of months. You were "our project" during Lockdown, as we loved your content, which so brightened our days during those long Victorian lockdowns. We believed in what you were doing, despite never having met you. Your brother, initially, put us on to your channel. He is so your opposite in the pursuits he enjoys, but a really terrific person too!

ahhh I love getting camp up JUST before the weather hits. Super cosy. Kate, I was wondering whether you'd ever be able to do a bit of a run down / tutorial on one of your next videos where you show how you scout / plan these trips before heading out. As a newbie this feels like one of the biggest hurdles. For example, did you just happen across the campsite? Or did you know it was there for sure? Or did you guess it was there based off a map? Same with the view to the river, so gorgeous! Anyway, I know you're busy but just thought I'd ask. Thanks for another great video.
Thanks a lot Dave. Love the idea. I’ve been mulling over doing something like that one day. So thanks for the encouragement. I think it could be a fun video. But yes a little bit lucky on this one and a lot of Google maps. I often spark interest in an area from either Google maps or someone else’s pics of a region. I then do a few Google’s of the specie area to see if anything comes up. More Google maps zooming and then a rough trip pan comes together. I’m loving doing fewer km and having a bit more time to explore.

Kate will not be permitted to talk about it,or even confirm she is a contestant due to the practice of signing confidentiality clauses for such programs until the series has been fully screened. I too am pretty certain I saw her heading off in a boat on that promo.Just wish 2023 could come faster, so we can tune in and follow the journey. Reckon that new knife and flint in a holster may be souvenirs, seems to be recently added gear! 😷😷😷Very exciting stuff!

Hi Kate, can I ask where is this? I’ve noticed your documented walks lately are general in description - like “beach”, or “wilderness”. Is there a reason why you keep the locations a bit mysterious? Not that I’m after detailed track notes, but general locations would be useful.
Hey thanks for the comment. I guess there are a couple of reasons there is a lot of flack being given to instergrammers/TH-camrs who do share locations as it can lead to over use and damage to an area (not that my vids are that popular). mainly I don’t share the details publicly these days as I have no idea who is watching and what skills they have. The walks I do these days tend not to follow marked hiking trails and I wouldn’t want someone to think a hike I did was well set up and easy to follow. I wouldn’t want anyone getting lost. Hope that answers your question.
Further to that I’m not a gate keeper of info and if people reach out I’m normally happy to discuss
@@KateGrarock Hi Kate, thanks for the clarification. Yeah, I was just thinking along the lines of naming the particular National Park visited for example, rather than anything too detailed. But maybe this isn't relevant to the audience? The videos are certainly enjoyable without needing to know where you are. I just find myself wondering what the river is you're looking at, that kind of thing.
@@seanobrien698 totally mate. It’s Morton and it’s a whopper of a national park so not giving much away. I get it too. I watch a lot of other hiking vids and almost can’t relax into them as I’m trying to workout where they are. Haha
