Hi Mario, Thanks for your kind words. I guess it is a reality that many of us are on a budget but to me it is important to see that even on a budget we can still enjoy our sport
Thanks Baz, probably won't be able to completely match them but sure am going to give it my best bash. The fun is in trying to get the most out of a budget setup
Hi Tyrone. Just found your channel, perfect timing! I just decided to start benchrest shooting so it is great to see someone else taking it step by step. Lots to learn! You are well ahead of me, still trying to decide what equipment to get to replace my very basic "fun" setup. Will be following your channel with interest, might see you at a competition someday, I am based in the Eastern Cape. Thanks for sharing!
Hi Rudi, awesome, benchrest is super fun. I am based in Centurion and shoot here at Eeufees air base. I am by no means an expert, always learning and trying to improve my own shooting. What are you currently shooting?
@@African-Budget-Pellet-Gunner Hi Tyrone. Till 5 years ago I lived in Pretoria and worked in Centurion but took early retirement and escaped from the city. Sometimes it is better to learn from someone who is not a total expert as the experts often assume we already know some stuff and that makes it a bit confusing. My current rifle is not really suitable for benchrest, more just for vermin control and fun shooting, it is a Nova Vista Leviathan (.22), I mostly shoot slugs but have now moved to JSB pellets. At least it allows me to start practicing, with JSB 18.13 grain pellets it is not too bad even tuned right down to 100bar to get below 20 fpe. I will order some lighter pellets that should help as well. But the search is on for something better so hoping to upgrade in the next few days. I live in a small town, Steytlerville, so I also had to get a compressor plus carbon tank to make my shooting independent. I have contacted my closest club (PE) and will attend their next shooting session. Working through your videos and enjoying it! Thanks!
@RudixSA that is super cool, the nova vista is great and will do the job for benchrest. Will you be shooting in the SA Hunters competition?.22 is nice for benchrest as it is less affected by the wind and in SA you aren't limited to power so pellets at 850-900fps will be great, just need a regulated rifle. What are you looking at for your new gun
@@African-Budget-Pellet-Gunner Yes, I would like to to compete in SA Hunters, looks like fun! Interesting that we are not limited to a certain power level, that helps as the rifle can be set for best accuracy without the need to de-tune it a lot. I am seriously considering the FX Impact M4, just need to make up my mind on the barrel length, maybe 700mm. I looked at a few others like the BRK Ghost but availability is a bit of a problem.
Hey Rudi, wow, FX impact M4, if you have the bucks go for it, but I am sure it is going to be like being on cheat mode at 25m. Once those FX are tuned up, they shoot hole in hole at 100m never mind 25m
Keen to see how you get on! I've just started shooting 25m benchrest with my JTS aircuda max and scoring an average of 240 with QYS domed pellets. Planning to convert my .22 CP2 TO .177 using a Cr600 barrel and receiver ... we'll see how it goes! Keep up the good work! 👍
Hi Karl, the 25m benchrest is super fun as I am sure you are aware. 240 average score is brilliant, the guy that came first on our side had an average score of 237, that is using an FX dreamline so well done to you. Converting the CP2 to 177 sounds like a fun project for sure, keep us in the loop on your progress
I for one look forward to watching the season unfold. I only shoot springers most of the time. It will be nice the watch how you prepare your new gun for the challenge.
It sounds very interesting Tyrone. Well done with the 3rd. I've done a fair amount of study on the CP2 CO2, if you can get the 177 shooting about 650fps without modifications (by polishing a few bits) then there is little variation with temperature between 18°C to 28°C. The stock sound moderator can add about 20fps. 650fps seems to be optimum barrel velocity, where the fps spread is smallest and the accuracy best, this is not maximum power but is absolute tack driver at 20m. To get up to optimum barrel velocity, a 22 would have to go over the UK magic 12-lb, somewhere around 16-lb. The brass transfer port may be used for fine tuning by honing it into and using it as a venturi, a curved ring doughnut shape inside (diamond engravers spherical burr by hand), which can speed up the gas but reduce volume rate. Requires a collection of transfer ports, biggest is not best. An airgun usually shoots best with a smooth constant push from the gas, not a sudden blast. I would not be at all surprised if a finely honed CP2 in the right hands could not take on and beat the expensive toys. I know it can put pellets through the same hole. I would not say it is easy but it has meant I practise held not benched to make it more challenging. Of course it is now November and now too cold for both me and the CO2 here.
Hi Jeff, yip that is the plan to try see what is the best the CP2 can give. I have quite a few steps I want to go through to get it the absolute max out of the CP2. I will definitely do a Chronograph test as well
Hi Tyrone. I finally bought an air rifle. Can you please do a review of a Nova Vista razer D-01W pcp air rifle .22 Non regulated because I’ve watched the regulated on on Air Bro reviews SA channel.
Hi Tyrone.Would you please make a video of how to convert a co2 bb pistol to using co2 remote pipe and connectors to a 16 or 20 oz co2 tank please.Sorry I know I'm of the topic of this video.Want to do something like that, but I'm non ot sure what I will need to do it.
Hi Tyrone.Your channel is fast becoming my favourite airgun information channel, especially because you keep it budget real. Keep up the good work.
