If I'm spending $500+ dollars a night I expect more than a Murphy bed in a room the size of a bathroom.
You guys realize Riviera has regular Deluxe Studios as well, right? The Tower Studio slots in below those. If someone only watched this video as their research on Riviera they wouldn’t know that. Beyond that, loved the video. Especially Fry Bucket’s take on the lounge with memorabilia.
I feel like people are forgetting this is a DVC resort, not MEANT to stay cash, although it is an option. Too many of the opinions are from people who stay cash and stay in the tower suite, so you hear about it being “small”. I am DVC and stayed in a 2 bedroom villa with my brother&sister in law and their daughter as well as my husband and 2 children and we felt like we had SO MUCH ROOM! We LOVED our stay!!!! And seeing harmonious from our balcony in a regular view room without paying extra was amazing! Plus, the 2 best parts of staying at the Riviera was never talked about…. 1) The SMELL!!!! When you walk into the lobby you hit a wall of amazing scent and it is the best feeling of getting “home”! 2) the bus stop! The layout of this hotel makes the bus stop convenient to get to for all and there is only 1 stop so no having to drive around to a bunch of stops like some deluxe resorts and no sharing a bus with other resorts! Plus the entire walkway from the hotel to the bus stop is covered! We never got wet at ALL coming back in a storm! I CAN NOT SAY ENOUGH GOOD THINGS ABOUT THIS RESORT IF YOUR DVC, 100% worth the extra points and I think is better then Grand Floridian!
I also love how the entire resort is self-contained - no multiple external buildings to have to walk to to get to your room, or having to run a quarter mile through the rain to the quick service restaurant for morning coffee :)
Agree! The smell is amazing. I wish they sold a candle in the gift shop that could replicate it at home!

The tower studio rooms are small, but there is also the normal studio rooms at the resort that are the same size as other DVC resorts. This seems to be lost on the reviewers as they only state studio towers, one & two bed villas and the grand villas as the room types at the resorts. The tower studios can offer some value for a DVC member who is staying on points as they are cheaper in regards to points when compared to a standard studio room. Some people may like that other may not....

That’s what I would do! Stop by for a coffee, relax and soak up the atmosphere!
There is so much focus on how tiny and expensive the tower studios are. The tower studios are for a niche audience only, such as a solo traveler, or maybe a couple traveling to Food & Wine for the weekend. It's not fair to compare the tower studio to a room at the All Star Resorts. It's apples and oranges.
The standard studios at Riviera sleep 5 people are some of the largest hotel rooms on property, second only to Old Key West.
I'm also not understanding why there is so much focus on cost, when rooms at the Grand Floridian, Polynesian, and Contemporary cost as much or more than a Riviera studio, but no one is warning people away from those resorts because they are "unaffordable".
Overall, this video gives a very skewed view of Riviera as a result. It's not just tiny studios and grand villas. And it costs as much as any other property on the monorail loop.
There are only 24 tower studios which are the small ones (255 sf). Then there are a maximum of 186 (some are lock offs and could be used as part of a 2 BR) regular sized studios (423 sf). This video seemed to lump them all in together which is quite misleading.
I absolutely agree that the price of the rooms is ridiculous. But I think the price Disney charges for any DVC villa is ridiculous. It's why we bought into DVC, so we can use our points to stay in the beautiful accommodations instead of paying cash. Once Riviera sells out, it will be just a DVC resort. Disney does maintain a tiny (maybe 2%) portion of the rooms themselves and they get a few more here and there when DVC members trade in their points to use for cruises, ABD, Interval International, etc. Those rooms will be able to be booked through Disney for cash, but the vast, vast majority will be booked using DVC points - either by a member or someone renting out their points. There are no "normal" hotel rooms in this resort, so you really can't compare it to a typical cash resort. The only reason Disney offers so many cash stays right now is because the resort isn't sold out yet. That will change.
I’d never pay rack rate to stay here, but I found a good deal to rent DVC points for a deluxe studio earlier this month. I paid less than $300/night. I loved it and would absolutely stay again if I could find more good deals like that!
Why do you focus so much on the Tower studios? This is a very particular room category that is a good way for couples and, especially, solo travelers to stay at this luxurious resort and not pay for space that is not strictly needed. No, It's not a good value when you look at square footage, but it is an option to save some money of DVC points. But you should have talked about the deluxe studios, which are among the largest at WDW. These studios do deliver on elbow room. They have two showers! Everything else you said about the resort I totally agree with. Thank you!
As a few other people have mentioned, the cast seems to be lingering on the value-for-cost of only one room type - the tower studio - of which there are only 24 in a hotel of 489 units, and they have a reputation for being pretty hard to book. I think a more useful comparison would be any of the other room types, against the equivalent at other DVC resorts. How does a one-bedroom villa at Riviera compare to a one-bedroom villa at the Grand Floridian, for instance? Is it still not worth it? Or is it a closer call?
Even if no one in the cast has had first-hand experience in either of these rooms, a comparison like that can still be made based on rack rate or number of DVC points.

That's a no for me dawg. I'm not DVC but I think it takes more points to stay there unless it's your home resort. I don't like the location vs. price, I'm sorry I'm not a fan of the sky liner. It's Florida, it rains - a lot - when there is a thunderstorm it shuts down. If I'm paying cash and spending that much, I'm staying at an Epcot resort and my little legs can get me to two parks and I'll pay less. Renting DVC points - not as easy as some make it and 90% of the time you are paying up front and it's non-refundable. I'm sorry, I want the option to change my mind and don't want to book 9 months out.
If you are DVC and your home resort is Riveria you can book 11 months out. Regardless if it is your home resort or not, it still costs the same amount of points. Certain parts of the year will cost less points than others.

I will never be justify paying that much, but I guess people do otherwise prices would be cheaper.
It's one of our home resorts, it's amazing..... but if you want to stay there RENT POINTS.
