we currently are owned by our fourth Spinone, love this breed. Calm, gentle, will nap with you when you want to, will go on a 5 mile walk if you want to, will hunt all day with you. Will come when you call them but not usually on a straight path. We call it Spinone time. Great with our 5 granddaughters. One likes to lay in his bed in the living room, he just sits and looks at her. Will never be owned by any other breed of dog. Our Louie is our 98 pound baby!
My male spinone was a real hound and he would run off chasing birds or interesting smells.he was very sneaky and we went for training every week for 4 yrs. so he was good most of the time until he wasn't. He lived until he was 15. He was a terrible drooler and he was a magnet for Burrs his paws were a nightmare.he was the king of counter surfing and any form of food, tea, and coffee was quickly gobbled up. He even ate an entire seabird live then vomited up the feet and beak later on. Any livestock or human waste was also on the menu. That also got vomited up after he had stuffed himself. He was very sweet with puppies, cats and grew up with children. But I have to say he was my most difficult dog but a real character.we got hi from a breeder in England his father and grandfather were champions. He was a rarity in the early 90s and they still are I think. I live on an island in the carribean and he was the only one. And he truly was one of a kind
What do you like the most about Spinones? Are you thinking of bringing one of these dogs home or do you already have one of them in your family? If you do, let us know about their unique traits in the comments!
We are on “Spin” #3, two of which have been rescues. Our first Spin, we got as a puppy and he was a fantastic dog. It does take them about 4 years to get into the groove and they are quite messy. That said, our first Spin, Pete, passed in 2017 and there is still “Pete spit” on the ceiling in a couple of spots that I do not have the heart to remove. We are in the process of getting Spin #4 in late October if all things go as planned.
Something else about the spinone breed is their gait and that they trot like a horse and they can cover long distances and they have endurance very hardy can deal with all weather conditions .
I'm sorry to say. But some of the showed dogs aren't Spinones!!! Which is very disappointing. But it's realy truthful to call these dogs extremely friendly and docile.
I love my Spinone!!! She was born perfect & loves all kiddos

That's hysterical.
Although, it's probably the frendliest breed of dogs on the planet. I am the very happy owner of a Spinone Italiano

I noticed the same thing. Several of the dogs looked like “Doodles”.
