    I like this channel. It's like Digital Foundry for roller coasters. Only a matter of time before it blows up

    This is definitely the best layout for the stats so far! Really appreciate your work! Maybe let the graph move a bit quicker so it a bit less compressed, and then it's perfect!
    Btw those end brakes really look brutal :D

      Thank you! We can change that for sure. Right now we show the previous 1250 frames in the graph, maybe we‘ll half the amount :)

    Amazing work! Best way to check stats, especially airtime! Can’t wait to see more content, I’m curious about gravity group family coasters in the back lol

    Why is the graph's starting point 0g tho? There's always a +1g put on humans body, due to natural gravity...

    • @CoasterStats
      @CoasterStats  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      We chose 0 as the starting point because allthough 1g is "normal", it is still a force affecting your body, which we wanted to show in the vertical gauge. In addition, this layout allows us to clearly show the direction of the force, so the bar being above its starting point will always mean you are lifted out of your seat, while the bar below it will always mean you are pushed into your seat. Choosing 1g as starting point would make ejector airtime appear stronger as it really is and would make appear vertical acceleration weaker, than it really is. And I think we can both agree that ejector is not forceless :-)

      @@CoasterStats I get it, so it means it's effective, but not really reliable

    • @CoasterStats
      @CoasterStats  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Hustlemaldo Well the reliability comes from the accelerometer, and we can assure you that the one we are using is pretty accurate.
      As mentioned, 1g is the force you experience right now, but it is nevertheless a force you are experiencing. 0g, so complete weithglessness is shown as complete empty bars, which shows that no force is exercised on your body. If we'd use 1g as default, it would look like you are experiencing a force where there is none. As mentioned, 1g is already a force, allbeit one we are used to.

      @@CoasterStats correct me if I'm wrong, but if +1g is a neutral status, thus -1g bar would be double the size of when you set "0" to neutral... :)

    • @CoasterStats
      @CoasterStats  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Hustlemaldo 0g means no acceleration. If we would set the starting point to +1g (vertical) it would imply, that there is no acceleration. If you would stand upside down (-1 g vertical), the gauge would have a amplitude of 2 g. This would not be accurate.
      Added to that starting at +1 g would also require a standardized position - but on most rollercoasters seats are slightly tilted backwards. It would mean that on rollercoaster a we should start at 0.95 g as a starting point, the next one would be 0.9 g. The best example for that sould be the Booster Bike onride, why starting at 0 g is the only reliable way of displaying acceleration.
